We are saddened at the passing of Life Member Don Clark.

Don joined the Brigade in 1983. Over his service in the brigade, Don held numerous positions both operational and administrative and had excelled in them all.

In 2007 District 14 formed a HQ Brigade, which Don became involved in. He supported fires through his role as a logistics officer at the Gisborne ICC.

Don had provided 43 years diligent service to CFA and the Victorian Community.

The Brigade will be supporting his family at his funeral.

With some pretty gross weather forecast over the next few days in Riddells Creek and surrounding areas, reduced visibility could make conditions challenging on our local roads.

If you’re heading out in the early morning (kids sport anyone?)

🚗 Turn your headlights on so other road users can see you.
🐢 Slow down and leave a safe distance between you and the vehicle in front.
👀 Stay alert and be prepared for changing conditions, especially on rural roads.

Remember, daytime running lights are not the same as headlights. Switching your headlights on also activates your tail lights, making your vehicle much more visible from behind.

Take your time, drive to the conditions, and let’s all do our part to help everyone get home safely.

Do you ever drive past the station on a Sunday, see all the cars and think, “I wonder what they are doing?”

We’re training.

Every week, our members give up their time to attend training so they can keep their skills current and be ready when our community needs us most.

From firefighting techniques and structure fire scenarios to pump operations and emergency response procedures, regular training helps ensure we can respond safely, effectively and professionally to a wide range of incidents.

Today’s training focused on a hazardous materials (Hazmat) scenario, giving members the opportunity to practise identifying hazards, assessing risks and working together to manage a potentially dangerous incident safely and effectively.

The hours spent training may not always be visible, but they are a vital part of what we do. Behind every emergency response is a dedicated group of volunteers continually learning, practising and improving their skills.

So next time you see a full car park at the station on a Sunday, you’ll know we’re hard at work preparing for the next call.

We’re proud to share that two of our members will be taking part in the Melbourne Firefighter Stair Climb on 12 September.

The climb is an incredible event that raises vital funds and awareness for mental health, cancer research and support services for first responders.
