🚒 CAR FIRE – RICHMOND ROAD, MARSDEN PARK 🚒

Today, firefighters from Schofields and Riverstone Fire & Rescue were called to a vehicle fire on Richmond Road at Marsden Park.

On arrival, firefighters located a car being transported on a tow truck that was well alight.

Richmond Road was reduced to one lane to allow firefighters to safely work at the scene and extinguish the blaze.

Fortunately, firefighters were able to save the tow truck, although it did sustain minor damage as a result of the fire.

A big thank you to motorists for their patience and cooperation while emergency services worked to make the area safe.

🚒 Pile Burns – Vineyard

Today, Riverstone Fire & Rescue firefighters were alerted to several large pile burns on a rural property in Vineyard that had been left unattended.

Due to the size of the piles, additional water was required, so our friends from Marsden Park Rural Fire Brigade came along to lend us a hand. 🤝

Utilising our specialist CAFS (Compressed Air Foam System), firefighters were able to effectively smother the piles and extinguish the remaining fire using the water available between both trucks.

It was also a great opportunity for some of our RFS colleagues to experience the capabilities of CAFS and see firsthand how this specialist system can help firefighters achieve more with limited water supplies. 💦🔥

🚒 HEAD-ON COLLISION – ANNANGROVE RD

Early this morning, firefighters from Riverstone Fire & Rescue, together with crews from Rouse Hill Rural Fire Brigade and Annangrove Rural Fire Service, were called to a head-on collision on Annangrove Road.

On arrival, firefighters were confronted with a significant amount of debris scattered across the roadway. Annangrove Road was subsequently closed in both directions while crews worked to make the scene safe and clear the road.

Fortunately, there were no major injuries reported.

This incident is another reminder of the importance of staying focused behind the wheel. Driver distraction, even for just a few seconds, can have serious consequences. Take extra care when driving at night, when visibility is reduced and hazards can be harder to see.

🚒 CHIMNEY FIRE SPREADS INTO ROOF – PITT TOWN 🔥

Tonight, firefighters from Fire and Rescue NSW Station 83 Riverstone, Fire and Rescue NSW Station 081 Windsor., Oakville Rural Fire Brigade and Marsden Park Rural Fire Brigade, were called to a residential property in Pitt Town following reports of a fire in the roof space, believed to have originated from a chimney.

Crews wearing breathing apparatus entered the property and used thermal imaging cameras to locate the source of the fire. Sections of the ceiling were then removed to gain access and extinguish the fire before it could spread further.

This incident could have had a tragic outcome if the fire had gone undetected. Fortunately, the residents were alerted to the fire and were able to raise the alarm, allowing firefighters to respond before the situation became much more serious.

🔥 Chimney and fireplace safety reminder:
If you have a fireplace or chimney in your home, make sure it is regularly inspected and professionally cleaned, particularly before using it during the colder months. Creosote and other deposits can build up inside chimneys and ignite, potentially causing a fire to spread into the roof space.

Always ensure your smoke alarms are working, never leave an operating fireplace unattended, and make sure everyone in your household knows what to do if a fire occurs.

A working smoke alarm can provide the early warning that saves lives. 🚨

🚒 MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT – ELARA

Today, firefighters from Riverstone Fire & Rescue were called to a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Northbourne Drive and Elara Boulevard, Elara, where a vehicle had crashed into a tree.

Firefighters worked to safely remove one occupant from the vehicle. The occupant was then transported to hospital by NSW Ambulance with minor injuries.

This incident is a timely reminder to take extra care when approaching and entering roundabouts. Slow down, give way as required, be aware of other vehicles and never assume another driver has seen you.

🚨 WORKING SMOKE ALARMS SAVE FAMILY HOME

Today, firefighters from Riverstone and Schofields Fire & Rescue NSW responded to reports of a domestic smoke alarm sounding at a residential property in Schofields.

An alert neighbour heard the smoke alarm sounding and immediately called 000, bringing firefighters to the scene.

On arrival, firefighters located a smoke-filled home caused by food that had been left cooking on the stovetop.

Thankfully, the working smoke alarms alerted those nearby before the situation could develop into a much more serious fire. Firefighters were able to quickly locate the source and make the home safe.

🔥 This is a timely reminder that smoke alarms save lives, and they can also save your home.

Make sure your smoke alarms are:
✅ Working and tested regularly
✅ Correctly positioned
✅ Less than 10 years old
✅ Never disabled or covered

And remember, if you hear a smoke alarm, don't ignore it. It could be the warning that saves a life.

It has been a busy 24 hours for the crews at Riverstone Fire & Rescue, responding to more than six emergency incidents across our local area.

Yesterday, firefighters were called to a large mud spill on Boundary Road, Schofields, after a truck lost part of its load, leaving the roadway covered in mud. Working alongside the responsible company, firefighters helped clean the road and restore safe conditions for motorists.

This morning, crews responded to a two-vehicle collision in Schofields. Fortunately, everyone involved was able to get out safely, and there were no reported injuries.

These incidents are a timely reminder that hazards can appear on our roads without warning. Whether it's debris, slippery conditions, or a collision ahead, slowing down and staying alert can make all the difference.

⚠️ AVOID THE AREA – HOBART STREET, RIVERSTONE ⚠️

*****Incident Update 22:00******- Firefighters have gained control with the fire now extinguished. Final make safe operations are being carried out.

Firefighters from Riverstone Fire & Rescue, supported by multiple Fire & Rescue NSW crews, are currently responding to a large fire in Hobart Street, Riverstone.

🚒 Emergency services are on scene and operations are ongoing. To ensure the safety of the community and allow firefighters to work, please avoid the area and follow the directions of emergency services personnel.

If you live nearby: • Keep clear of the incident area. • Close windows and doors if affected by smoke. • Drive with caution and use alternative routes where possible.

Please do not stop to watch or take photos, as this can hinder emergency operations and create additional hazards.

Yesterday afternoon, firefighters from Riverstone Fire & Rescue were responded to a two-vehicle collision in Rouse Hill following reports of a person trapped.

Upon arrival, crews located a collision involving a small truck and a passenger vehicle. Fortunately, all occupants had safely exited their vehicles prior to firefighters arriving.

Firefighters secured the scene and assisted other emergency services while paramedics from NSW Ambulance assessed those involved. One driver was treated for minor injuries.

Motor vehicle accidents can happen in an instant. Please remember to stay alert behind the wheel, maintain a safe following distance, and avoid distractions while driving.

NSW Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.

In less than 24 hours, firefighters from Riverstone Fire & Rescue, alongside crews from across Western Sydney, have responded to two devastating house fires at The Ponds and Schofields.

These incidents are a sobering reminder of how quickly fire can take hold. Sadly, families have lost treasured possessions, their homes, and heartbreakingly, their beloved pets. We are incredibly grateful that there has been no loss of human life.

These incidents serve as an important reminder to take a few simple steps to help protect your family and your home:

🚨 Test your smoke alarms monthly and replace the batteries when required. 🚨 Ensure you have working smoke alarms installed on every level of your home, particularly near bedrooms. 🚨 Plan and practise a home fire escape plan with everyone in your household. 🚨 Never leave cooking unattended, and keep anything that can burn away from the stovetop. 🚨 Keep portable heaters at least one metre away from curtains, furniture and other flammable items. 🚨 Charge lithium-ion batteries safely and never leave them charging unattended or overnight unless the manufacturer advises it is safe to do so.

Taking just a few minutes today to check your smoke alarms and discuss an escape plan with your family could make all the difference tomorrow.
