Taking those extra few seconds to come to a complete stop, check for traffic, and proceed safely can make all the difference. While we love meeting members of our community, we'd much rather see you at a local event than at a motor vehicle accident.

💨🌬️ STRONG WINDS CAUSE DAMAGE TO COMMERCIAL BUILDING 🌬️💨

Today, crews from Fire and Rescue NSW Station 83 Riverstone responded to a commercial premises after strong winds caused sections of the roof to become damaged and blow away.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported, however the incident serves as a timely reminder that strong winds can create dangerous conditions with little warning.

The NSW SES advises residents to:
✅ Move vehicles away from trees, powerlines and other loose structures.
✅ Secure or put away outdoor furniture, trampolines and other loose items.
✅ Stay indoors and away from windows during severe wind events.
✅ Keep clear of fallen powerlines and damaged structures.
✅ Never drive through areas affected by storm damage unless absolutely necessary.

🚒 Today, crews from Fire and Rescue NSW Station 83 Riverstone and Fire and Rescue NSW Station 063 Blacktown responded to a two car motor vehicle accident in Rouse Hill, where one of the vehicles had overturned onto its side.

Despite the significant damage and dramatic scene, we're pleased to report that no occupants sustained serious injuries.

As we continue to experience wet and slippery road conditions, this incident serves as a timely reminder to slow down, leave extra space between vehicles, and stay focused behind the wheel. Road conditions can change quickly, and a moment of inattention can have serious consequences.

A few extra minutes on your journey is far better than a visit from us.

As we like to say, we don't want to meet by accident! 🚗💥🚒

🚨🔥 SMOKE ALARM ACTION DAY 🔥🚨

Could your smoke alarm save your life tonight?

Working smoke alarms provide critical early warning in the event of a fire, giving you and your family precious time to escape safely. The simple act of testing your smoke alarms could make all the difference when seconds count.

Today is Smoke Alarm Action Day, and Fire and Rescue NSW Station 83 Riverstone is encouraging everyone in our community to:

✅ Test your smoke alarms by pressing the test button.
✅ Replace batteries if required.
✅ Clean dust from your alarms.
✅ Replace smoke alarms that are more than 10 years old.
✅ Make sure you have a home escape plan and that everyone in the household knows it.

Remember: Fires can spread quickly, and smoke can make it difficult to escape. A working smoke alarm is your first line of defence.

Take a few minutes today to check your smoke alarms, it could save the lives of those you love most.

Yesterday's jobs at Fire and Rescue NSW Station 83 Riverstone really kept us on our toes… and paws! 🐾🚒

Our firefighters were called to rescue a curious cat that found itself in a bit of a drain-brained situation after becoming stuck in a drainage system. Thankfully, crews were able to claw their way to a successful rescue and return the feline to safety, safe to say the cat was feeling pretty purr-ty relieved afterwards! 😺

But the day didn’t stop there…

We then wrapped things up with a sprinkler head activation that definitely put a dampener on the afternoon! 💦 Thankfully crews were able to stem the flow and get things back under control.

Just another day of keeping the community safe — one soggy situation at a time! 🚒

Fitness Drill 💪

Despite the wet weather tonight, firefighters from Fire and Rescue NSW Station 83 Riverstone were still able to complete an important fitness and teamwork drill thanks to the team at GameDay ANZ for allowing us access to their indoor courts.

Crews took the opportunity to sharpen their coordination, communication and fitness skills with a few competitive games of shuttlecock and pickleball.

A huge thank you to GameDay for supporting local emergency services and helping us continue our training regardless of the weather, it’s greatly appreciated by all of our members 🚒

A huge thank you to everyone who came along to the Riverstone Fire & Rescue Open Day yesterday. It was fantastic to see so many families, community members, and supporters come through the station, meet our firefighters, and take part in the day. We truly appreciate the ongoing support from our local community.

Unfortunately, during the course of the day, our crews responded to two serious motor vehicle accidents. It was a sobering reminder of how quickly lives can change on our roads.

We’re urging everyone in our community to slow down, stay focused behind the wheel, and pay attention to the road. A moment of distraction or impatience can have devastating consequences.

Please drive safely and help us keep our community safe.

Today we celebrate May the 4th in more ways than one 🚒✨

While many know it as Star Wars Day, it’s also St Florian’s Day, the patron saint of firefighters. A day to recognise the courage, dedication, and service of firefighters everywhere.

Here at Riverstone Fire and Rescue, we’re proud to stand on the front line protecting our community, supporting each other, and honouring the long tradition of service that St Florian represents.
