It’s been 10 years of motherhood for me, and in 10 years I am yet to meet a mother that speaks about her journey positively. I hear the self-depreciation, the comparisons with others, the horror stories, the self-criticism and the never ending list of our own expectations that have not been met. If so many of us (dare I say all of us) are feeling so negative about how ‘ successful’ we are as mothers, then perhaps it’s this whole idea of ‘ succeeding at motherhood’ that is the real problem.

Over my 10 years of motherhood I’m also yet to meet a mother that wasn’t trying her best and giving her all every day; the mummas who are battling addiction, the mummas caring for kids with big feelings and behaviours, the Mummas doing it solo, the Mummas working full time, the Mummas carrying the load of grief and loss- all of them, doing their best, every day.

Success is sold to mothers as this destination you arrive at if you work out enough, parent your child the ‘ right way’ enough, clean and decorate your home enough, look after everyone enough; yet no one ever arrives.

This is a journey Mumma, not a destination.

It’s one that is filled with challenges and triumphs, what this looks like for each individual is going to depend on what kind of support, stability, security and safety they have available to them at the time.

There are so many layers to this season of your life and as we come together and peel them back one by one we get closer and closer to our own truth. It’s in finding this truth that we reveal what it truly means to be ‘successful’ as a mother.

Mumma, there isn’t another person like you in the world and I’m so glad you’re in it. You got this and we got you

What happens at Self-Care circle?

I have received many messages this week from Mumma’s wanting to know more about what a circle looks and feels like. So I have put together this post to provide some more details as well as an opportunity to ask questions in the comments.

Each circle offers a combination of the following:

🧘🏽‍♀️ Guided Meditation and relaxation

🛠 Development of a self-care tool kit that goes deeper and beyond manicures and bubble baths

✍🏼 Learn therapeutic journaling techniques

🧠 Understand more about your brain and behaviour

🧀 🍓Sharing a delicious platter 🍇🥖

All circles are casual and designed to be just as relevant and beneficial for the mumma who can come regularly as for the mumma who can only come once.

There is no pressure to participate in activities or share if you’re not comfortable. The circle has been curated to offer relaxation and safety regardless of how much you join in, everyone is acknowledged and accepted as an individual 🙏🏽

Everything is provided!
- Writing materials
- Resources
- Refreshments
- Floor pillows
- Peaceful sensory environment

One of the greatest challenges I have faced as a mother has been getting comfortable with protecting my boundaries and well-being.
Saying ‘no’ can be an extremely difficult thing to do and we often will sacrifice our own needs to placate others, leaving us with a bitter sense of resentment.
This weeks circle will focus on understanding our own needs and unpacking guilt vs resentment.

Do you have trouble saying ‘no’ to others? Join us this Friday as we eat, share and explore how setting and maintaining boundaries are essential components for self-care 🙏🏽

Please take the time to familiarise yourself with our rules prior to coming to circle, if you have any questions or queries please message the page or contact Danielle directly on 0412 178 496.

We revisit our rules at the beginning of every circle, and there is an opportunity to ask questions there and then.

As we prepare for our first circle this Friday 5th November, there have been a few questions regarding the location of the Co’moo’nity rooms and directions. The address is 2/384-388 French Avenue, Frenchville; it is a space ( looks like a shop front) within a small complex next to a daycare centre and Indian restaurant.

Below is a link to the Co’moo’nity rooms page where you can click on the map and get directions from whenever you are travelling from.

I have included a photo of what the space looks like at night so you can be confident you have arrived in the right place. If you are having any issues making your way to the space please call or text 0412 178 496 ( Danielle).

Vulnerability is uncomfortable, many of us spend a good portion of our lives building up our walls to avoid hurt and disappointment.
But it’s such a heavy weight to bare all the time mumma.

It is my aim to bring you into our village and create safety for you to feel light and free, because it is in safety that we heal and grow.

Your journey is unique, and there are many factors that impact your capacity to heal that may never be shared with others- your silent battles. I want you to know that when you come to a circle, there is no expectation that you justify or explain how you have coped with the weight of your darkness. You are worthy of support, understanding and empathy period, and it’s a privilege to be joining you on this next phase of your life.

Your feelings matter mumma, and I can’t wait to watch you grow 🙏🏽
