Day 2 of National Native Bee Conference in Cairns. I was lucky to catch up with one of the legends of the native bee industry Bob Luttrel. Better known as Bob the Bee man. Bob is known for his invention of the 3D printed honey super and then the honey spinner to suit.
Bob took native bee honey to another level with his honey super.

Bright sunny day here in Rockhampton today. All the bees were out and about. I placed a small about of native bee wax outside the entrances of each hive.
Look at the reaction.

Another dead hive. Photos show the steps as I opened the hive.
A rescue on the 10/1/ 2025.
Only a couple a months ago this was a thriving hive. Good numbers coming and and going. I certainly was unaware what was going on inside. The involucrum was still fully in place. Where the brood should have been was a total open space.
No indication of pests and not one dead be in the hive anywhere. There is food stores. My theory of build up of pollen causing shrinking of the brood mass goes out the door on this one. No dead bees so no poison. The hive joins were all taped no moisture inside. All I can put it down to is the hive didn't requeen.
