Here we are in August. The horses are blowing out candles all over Australia today and they deserve to have a great birthday. Three weeks to go before we celebrate Senior's Week 2018. On Thursday 23 August, we are hosting our Southside Senior's Sensational Cent Sale. Everyone is welcome to join us. Schotia Place will be opened early to enable you to purchase your tickets. We will start the drawing of 200 prizes at 9 to 9,30 am. There are Three raffle prizes in all that as well. Lunch will be served at noon (or very close to that time). Then we can enjoy some very good music from Samantha Bellamy and Ray Pratley who are residents of Tamworth. They are travelling down the coast,(been out West a bit) heading for the Gympie Muster and raising money for the Make-a-Wish Foundation. Come down to Schotia, enjoy the morning tea and FREE lunch, win something nice and meet Sam and Ray. Big day out !!!!!!

This lady is a member of our Senior Citizen's Club and a great volunteer worker. Where she gets the energy to grow "ten headed pineapples" after all she does at the Club and Line Dancing I have no idea. Proud to know you Jackie. 😍🤩🤩🍍🍍🍍🍍

We are almost half way through 2018. It has been a very busy year so far and the fun will continue. Rockhampton is gearing up for our Annual Show next week. There seems to be a bit of an upset with the Showies and the organisers this year. What a sorry shame that is. But, apparently, you can get all the fun of the fair at Callaghan Park Racecourse and check out the chooks and the cooks and whatever at the Showgrounds!!!!! The Seniors at Schotia Place have already attended the best of Rockhampton Annual Shows for many a year, so we know how to run our own fun day, win prizes, enjoy morning tea and a two course meal with music provided by the great central Queensland duo Viv & Karen (Jenkinson) and all at the one venue !!!! How do we do it??? Anyone who wants to join us will be most welcome.

Last week we went for an excursion around this, our wonderful hometown of Rockhampton. Firstly the participants were asked to name the pubs up William Street from Quay Street to Campbell Street. Original names and the ones that have long since gone. There were 9 pubs in that length of William St. Amazing !!! That is not even the tip of the ice berg when recalling Hotels in Rockhampton...just a snowball really. Further checked out the length of Agnes St and enjoyed the wonderful architecture of splendid Queensland homes. What character, beauty and exceptional reasoning went into creating homes to suit the tropical area. The visit to see our new Chimp was very popular and what a cute baby is little Capri. Morning tea at the Tea rooms under the magnificent Banyan figs was enjoyed by all. The ladies always provide a wonderful spread if you are wanting to take friends and visitors for morning or afternoon tea in a relaxing atmosphere contact the tearooms. After a look around at other interests, we made our way to the Boathouse on Quay for lunch. Great food, Great staff, wonderful surroundings and all overlooking the Mighty Fitzroy River. What A setting!!! to round the day off we visited The Wandal Community Garden and bought a gelato each from the clients at HSA who are making headway into their business venture. The variety of flavours available makes it difficult to choose, but we thank all the folk at Home Support Association for their friendliness and for sharing their lovely area with us.
