Gibbos was started over 12 years ago by Darryl, who passed the baton on to Justin in 2018 (who he trained for RE, R and finally Instructor assessments), when it was time for him to move on.

From the early days of a bike on a trailer towed by another bike to now with the shiny green vanborgini everyone locally knows and loves with the stunning black Triumph Tiger in the back alongside the training bikes. We’ve done the very best we can do for each and every student that’s been taught by us.

Sadly, the time has come for it all to end. On Saturday as Gareth finished his last lesson, packed up the bikes and said goodbye, the doors on Gibbos Motorcycle Training closed for the last time.

It’s a sad day for all of us and we’ve all shed more than a few tears as we’ve made the decision to do this. But the time has come for it to end.

Justin and the team at Gibbos would like to wish all past students, friends, bikers and everyone in between, a very safe riding future.

This feels like a lifetime ago! It was the start of my instructing career, and today marks the end…for now at least.

Certainly, neither Justin or I have shaved much since then! 😂🤣

A lot of water has passed under the bridge, and lot of students have passed through the doors since I started with Gibbos 3.5 years ago.

I think I’ve trained approximately 500 people to be safe and pass their test, whether it be scooter, lams bikes or open class... Most of them first time passes, but a few have taken more than one attempt.

I’ve met some really awesome people, interesting people from a real variety of backgrounds as well as some absolute bloody nightmares in my time.
The name Alfred still sends shivers down not just my spine, the thought also puts a smile on my face too though!

But it’s time for me to move on.

I’ve had a blast. I’ve loved it. I’ve hated it. Sometimes it’s been easy and sometimes it’s been the hardest job I’ve ever had. It’s certainly been more than just a job.

I wish each and every one of you all the very best, safe riding, fun roads, sunny days and great scenery.

Until we meet again…or nod as we pass on the road…
Gareth

So we had a proper win this week. 100% pass rate 4/4 tests for us at team Gibbo’s, but I only found out today that the scooter test I warmed up on Tuesday passed first time too. So yesterday, we had RE in the morning, then RN-A at lunchtime and R class in the afternoon. And of course R class on Tuesday.
Congratulations Jess, you were really fun to teach, I hope dad learned a thing or too as well.

Wow, what a day it’s been. I met Kelly over three years ago when she first wanted to learn to ride having been given a Royal Enfield Rumbler 350 by her parents.
She did awesome from day one, we had a laugh and she passed her RE assessment at the first try in Rockingham.
She came back to brush up her skills and get used the R class bike before her test and I was impressed. All the skills were still there but with confidence of someone who’s spent time on a bike.
With a bit of spit and polish, and a trip to Mandurah today, Kelly smashed her R class test first go.
Good on you for keeping going, pushing through and believing in yourself.
Ride safe.

Pass number two for this week goes to Alex on his first go at the RE assessment in rockingham. Great warm up mate especially considering you’ve not ridden in the road since November.

What a great way to start the week, for us and for Jess who passed her R class assessment this morning at the first try. Great riding Jess. Would love to see your new cb1000 if you have time to swing by and show it off.

Ride safe.

Corey was pass number 4 for the week. He was a bit quiet on the warmup ride but rode really well and that was reflected in the pass on his first attempt at the RE assessment. Well done mate.

If you’re looking for a bike then Corey can be found at Western Edge Motorcycles Kawasaki & Suzuki on day road where he can help with both new and used bike sales as well and parts and servicing advice. He even delivered my new gloves to me the other day, but I don’t think he usually does deliveries.

Congratulations mate, you’ve been a pleasure to teach.
Ride safe.

Ruby was pass number three for this week. First attempt at the RN-A assessment and nailed it first go.
Really great warm up ride Ruby, as I said you started well on lesson one and kept the standard up throughout all of your training.
Good luck in the car.
Ride safe.

We’re all different! We all have our challenges! Some people (me included) suffer with nerves, anxiety and depression. For some people riding motorbikes is life, for some it’s easy and for some it’s to push through the self doubt and achieve what they’ve set out to achieve.

I taught Nic to ride a few years ago, she passed her test first time despite the nerves, weather and self doubt. We’ve been friends ever since.

When it came to R class, there were more challenges, bigger heavier bike, different assessors, harder test. More nerves, more anxiety. Worse weather!

But today, at the first attempt, Nic passed her R class test with flying colours. The wind picked up, the rain started, the nerves were so bad her hands were shaking violently, but she overcame it all.

I’m really proud of you Nic! What a journey it’s been. Just remember, you never stop learning.

Ride safe my friend.
