Marge! MARGE!
The Ekka winds are here!

If you’re planning a burn in the coming weeks, stay atop of local weather conditions and restrictions.

If in doubt, reach out.

Do you have plans to conduct a hazard reduction burn over the coming days?
The Bureau of Meteorology is warning of a gusty wind change that could affect most of the state from Sunday and into early next week.
The current forecast indicates the change will hit southwest Queensland first but will extend up to North Queensland by Monday. It will leave a dry airmass over Queensland which could lead to locally high fire danger.
Please check your local conditions before doing any burning, as things could change quickly.

Observing the next generation of defence and emergency service personnel at the PCYC Emergency Services Cadet Games was a great way to wrap up RFSQ Week 2026.

The interest, enthusiasm and skills demonstrated today will ensure these young people have successful careers in their chosen field.

Congratulations to everyone who participated today!

πŸ€“ Thursday night training! πŸš’

Last night focused on Scene Preservation β€” a critical skill that helps protect evidence, our people and supports emergency response at incidents.

In the lead-up to fire season, every session builds our knowledge, confidence, and operational readiness so we’re prepared when it matters most. πŸ”₯πŸ’ͺ

Monday 27 July 2026… are you ready for it? βœ…

AusAlert will be ready to use in October 2026, but before it launches, the system needs to be tested across Australia.

The national test of AusAlert is on Monday 27 July 2026 at around 2pm AEST.

AusAlert has 2 types of alerts, depending on how severe the emergency is. The national test is a Critical Alert.

Critical Alerts override 'silent' and 'do not disturb' device settings, and they can’t be opted out of. When you receive a Critical Alert, it will appear like a system notification on screens and make a loud siren sound for about 10 seconds.

This is the highest level of warning. It means you may be in danger. You should act immediately.

AusAlerts contain important information to keep you safe and informed during disasters.

The only way to stop your devices from receiving Critical Alerts is to switch them off or put them in aeroplane mode. If you don’t wish to receive the AusAlert national test, do this before the test time in your location and leave them off or in aeroplane mode for at least one hour.
