Roleystone Volunteer Fire & Rescue Service

Roleystone Volunteer Fire & Rescue Service In the event of a fire or a life-threatening emergency, please dial 000. Roleystone Volunteer Fire & Rescue Service is a vital part of the local community.

Roleystone VFRS assists in the Preparation, Prevention, Response and Recovery (PPRR) of our local community. Founded in 1957, the Brigade was initially formed as a Bush Fire Brigade (BFB) and in recent times has extended to the Fire and Rescue Service (FRS). In October 2021, the City of Armadale disbanded the BFB. The Brigade is integral to the Roleystone and wider community. The VFRS has the capa

city to combat numerous incidents including bush fires, structural fires, vehicle fires, traffic accidents and HAZMAT incidents. The Brigade supports the community with active community engagement and mitigation programs. Our page is intended to provide information and promote the activities of the Roleystone Volunteer Fire & Rescue Service.

There is a beauty to fire that humans have understood for thousands of years.

It cooks our food, heats our homes, and brings people together. It draws us in with its warmth, movement, colour, and radiance.

But firefighters know how quickly that beauty can turn.

How fast a flame can become a threat. How heat can become unbearable. How smoke can blind, choke, and disorient. How something that seems controlled can change in a matter of seconds.

In pictures like these, we can appreciate the beauty of fire, but we never forget its danger.

This Mother’s Day, we're giving a huge shoutout to all the incredible mums volunteering with our Brigade ❤️🚒

These women give up their time to help protect and support our community. From responding to emergencies, to training nights and community events, they're proving that mums really can do it all.

To all the mums in our brigade and beyond: thank you for everything you do. 💐

This International Firefighters’ Day, we'd like to thank our fellow firefighters around the world who put themselves at risk to protect lives, homes, and communities.

We're equally grateful to the families and friends who stand behind them.

To all firefighters and brigade members — thank you for showing up, training hard, and helping when it matters most.

Prescribed burning is one of the most important tools we have for reducing bushfire risk across our community.

By carefully burning selected areas under the right weather conditions, we can reduce the build-up of dry materials that fuel summer bushfires.

Next week, we begin undertaking prescribed burns in the Roleystone area. Visit https://roleystonefirerescue.com/burns for a list of Burn Dates & Times.

April was packed with training, community events, and essential work that keeps the wheels turning for our Brigade:

🔥 Our Training Officer Richard built a custom gas tank prop to practice hot fire training on station
🔥 Chloe began running fitness sessions to keep us active and ready
🔥 Andrew ran recovery strap training for safer casualty extrication
We've also been marking hydrants across Roleystone, and getting ready to begin prescribed burning.

From tomorrow we will enter the Restricted Burning Time. Due to the current seasonal weather conditions no burning permits are being issued at this time. The City is regularly reviewing weather and local fire behaviour conditions and will provide an update when permits can be safely issued.

🌿 Small garden pile burns (maximum 1 cubic metre) do not require a permit, but you must follow the conditions below:
- Fires can only be lit after 6pm and must be fully extinguished by midnight
- Only one pile at a time
- Keep 5 metres clear of all flammable material
- You must stay with the fire until it is completely extinguished
- You must register your burn with DFES before lighting

🚫 Burning is not permitted:
- on Sundays or Public Holidays
- on properties under 1,200m²
- when the Fire Danger Rating is High or above
- if it produces toxic or nuisance smoke
