What a wonderful evening celebrating the power of community โค๏ธ

A huge thank you to the Red Hill and District Lions Club - Victoria for inviting Southern Peninsula Community Support to be part of such a special night. The passion, kindness and commitment to helping others was felt in every speaker and every conversation throughout the evening.

We are incredibly grateful for the ongoing support the Lions give our organisation each and every year. Your generosity and dedication make a real difference in the lives of people across our community.

It is partnerships like these that remind us how strong a community can be when people come together to care for one another.

Thank you for all that you do ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’›

๐Ÿ’ A beautiful act of kindness from Mums Supporting Families in Need Inc ๐Ÿ’

These gorgeous bunches were part of a special Motherโ€™s Day promotion in partnership with Flowers for Jane.

This year, we were introduced a โ€œPay It Forwardโ€ bunch initiative, where customers could donate flowers to a mum in need - spreading love, kindness and reminding local women that they are seen and valued.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of our community, so many beautiful bouquets were shared with deserving mums across the Southern Peninsula. ๐ŸŒธ

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who donated, supported, and helped make someoneโ€™s day a little brighter. Small acts of kindness truly create a ripple effect. ๐Ÿ’•

For years and years, the Rye Opportunity Shop has stood beside Southern Peninsula Community Support, quietly and generously helping those doing it toughest across the Southern Peninsula. ๐Ÿ’œ

As one of our longest standing supporters, their kindness, compassion and community spirit have made a real difference to the lives of so many local people facing hardship. Every item donated, every purchase made and every volunteer hour given helps support people who need it most.

With it being National Volunteer Week, we want to give a very special shout out to the incredible volunteers at the Rye Op Shop. Thank you for your endless dedication, your warm smiles, your hard work and the heart and soul you pour into the shop every single week. Our community is stronger because of you.

And the best part? The money raised stays local and directly supports vulnerable people right here on the Southern Peninsula. ๐Ÿ’›

The Rye Opportunity Shop is always looking for more volunteers to join their beautiful team. If youโ€™ve been thinking about giving back, meeting wonderful people and becoming part of something meaningful, this is such a special place to volunteer.

We were incredibly grateful to be invited along and so touched by the kindness, generosity and community spirit shown throughout the morning.

Thank you to every member who donated items for Southern Peninsula Community Support and for supporting local people and families doing it tough within our community. Your compassion truly makes a difference.

It was also such a privilege to share a little about the work SPCS does across the Southern Peninsula and connect with such caring people.

๐Ÿ’› National Volunteer Week 2026 ๐Ÿ’›
18โ€“24 May

This week we celebrate the heart and soul of Southern Peninsula Community Support - our incredible volunteers.

With over 80 volunteers supporting our organisation, we simply could not do what we do without them.

Every food parcel packed, every kind conversation, every load of washing, every donation sorted, every person welcomed through our doorsโ€ฆ happens because people in our community choose to give their time, compassion, and care to others.

Our volunteers are more than helpers.

They are listeners, supporters, friendly faces, safe spaces, and often the reason someone feels seen and valued during one of the hardest times in their life.

In a world that can sometimes feel overwhelming, they remind us what community truly means.

To every single volunteer at SPCS - thank you.

Thank you for showing up with kindness, patience, empathy, and love. Thank you for standing beside vulnerable people and helping create dignity, hope, and connection across the Southern Peninsula.

You are changing lives every single day, often quietly and without recognition, but your impact is immeasurable.

We appreciate you more than words can say ๐Ÿซถ

What makes a community strong? Neighbours looking out for one another ๐Ÿ’›

This huge donation of toiletries came from the neighbour of our President, Belinda - and honestly, it got us thinking about just how powerful community can be.

One neighbour decided to help, and now vulnerable people across the Southern Peninsula will have access to essential items many of us take for granted.

It made us wonderโ€ฆ what could happen if more neighbours came together like this?

Have you checked in on your neighbours lately?
Are they okay?
Are they quietly struggling with the rising cost of living, loneliness, housing stress, or putting food on the table?

Sometimes people donโ€™t ask for help because they feel embarrassed, isolated, or scared. A simple conversation, a kind gesture, or a donation can remind someone they are not alone.

Could your street, workplace, school group, or neighbourhood collect toiletries, pantry items, blankets, or essentials for people doing it tough in our community?

Kindness starts close to home ๐Ÿซถ

Thank you to Belindaโ€™s wonderful neighbour for this incredible act of generosity - these donations will make such a difference to the people we support every day.

A huge heartfelt thank you to the Uniting Church Op Shop Dromana for their extraordinary generosity and ongoing support of Southern Peninsula Community Support. ๐Ÿ’›

We are incredibly grateful to share that the Uniting Church has recently donated an amazing $20,000 to support local people experiencing hardship across our community.

Even more incredibly, ALL ongoing proceeds from their Op Shop will now be donated directly to SPCS.

This commitment means more than we can express.

It provides not only immediate relief, but ongoing hope for people in our community who are doing it tough - helping us continue to provide food relief, support services, outreach programs and care for those most vulnerable on the Southern Peninsula.

Their wonderful Op Shop is run by a passionate team of volunteers who create a warm, welcoming and community-focused space filled with affordable treasures, clothing, books and more.

Op Shop Opening Hours:

Monday to Friday: 10:30am โ€“ 2:30pm
(Note: during winter, the shop is closed on Thursdays)

Saturday: 10:30am โ€“ 1:00pm

The team are also currently in desperate need of volunteers. If you have a few hours to spare and would love to be part of a fun, caring and impact-changing team, they would absolutely love to hear from you. Volunteering is a wonderful way to connect with others while making a real difference locally.

Thank you again to the Southern Peninsula Uniting Church community for your compassion, kindness and belief in the work we do. We are so honoured to walk alongside you in supporting our community. ๐Ÿ’™
