Whilst restrictions continue to ease in impacted areas close to our Thornton campus, we acknowledge that this remains a difficult time for many. Our Thornton Campus will remain closed today (12/01/26)

We extend our sincere thanks to those in our community who supported active fire response efforts in various roles. Your contribution is deeply appreciated, and we recognise that this work is ongoing.

We ask that all community members continue to monitor and follow advice from emergency services, as the situation remains dynamic.

❗️Campus Closures - Fire Danger Rating 09/01/2026❗️

Whilst it is the term vacation period, we wish to advise members of our community that our Nayook Campus will enact its approved pre-emptive closure action plan tomorrow due to an Extreme Fire Danger Rating forecast by the Bureau of Meteorology for our local government area (LGA), Baw Baw Shire.

In addition, our Thornton Campus will be closed tomorrow due to a Catastrophic Fire Danger Rating forecast for the North Central fire weather district.

No staff or students will be on site on days when the school is closed.

We encourage all members of our community to reconsider any travel through bushfire-risk areas, and continue to monitor conditions and warnings issued by emergency services.

"Bridging Now to Next" is the theme for National Reconciliation Week 2025. This means we're focusing on how the past informs the present and how we can work towards a more reconciled future together.

At Rubicon we continue to reflect on our role as educators in promoting reconciliation, fostering understanding, and ensuring that the next generation learns about shared histories, cultures, and achievements of our First Nations people.

We can all play a part in influencing the future of Australia by the actions we take … what will your reconciliation action be? We challenge you to a game of Reconciliation Bingo this week!
