A reminder to dig deep and support Shay for her Melbourne Firefighter Stair Climb on Saturday September 12, 2026.

On Saturday 12 September 2026, firefighters and emergency services personnel from across Australia and around the world will descend on Melbourne to take on the gruelling 28 floors of the Crown Metropol for the Melbourne Firefighter Stair Climb.

Climbers will tackle the challenge in up to 25kg of turnout gear and breathing apparatus, or similarly weighted operational equipment, representing the heavy burden of health and wellbeing challenges faced by first responders and their families every day.

This year’s goal is to raise $1 million for cancer research and crisis support, and one of our own, Rutherglen CFA firefighter Shay Walsh, will be taking part.

If you’re able to support Shay, please donate at:
www.firefighterclimb.org.au/climber/shaywalsh

Every cent donated goes directly towards fighting cancer through research and crisis support, and all donations are tax deductible.

You can also support other climbers by searching for their brigade name on the Firefighter Stair Climb website.

Today, the Rutherglen CFA proudly pauses to recognise and honour the courage, sacrifice, and service of all Australians and New Zealanders who have served our nations.

On ANZAC Day, we remember those who gave their lives, those who returned, and those who continue to serve in defence of our communities and values. Their legacy of mateship, resilience, and selflessness lives on—not only in our history, but in the spirit of service we strive to uphold every day.

As volunteers, we are reminded of the importance of standing together, supporting one another, and serving our community with dedication and respect.

Lest we forget.

The Rutherglen Fire Brigade is proud to celebrate two of our newer members for their outstanding contributions. Congratulations to Alex Scott, our 2025 Firefighter of the Year, and Sam Bain, recipient of the 2025 Encouragement Award. Your dedication and commitment make our brigade stronger. We’re proud to have you both as part of our team.🏆👨‍🚒

The Rutherglen CFA would like to sincerely thank the Rutherglen Dance Festival for their generous donation. We were proud to support the event by assisting with catering, and in return, this contribution provides a meaningful boost to our brigade.

We’re also pleased to share this support with our colleagues at SES Rutherglen Unit, the Carlyle Fire Brigade and Cornishtown Fire Brigade. Community events like this highlight the strength of working together — thank you for your ongoing support!
