We’re looking for motivated people to join the SACKVILLE NORTH Rural Fire Brigade and be part of a team that protects our community during bushfires, structure fires, storms, and other emergencies.

Do you have:
✅ A desire to learn and maintain new skills
✅ A current driver’s licence
✅ Aged 18 years or older
✅ Ability to pass a police check

No previous firefighting experience is required. We provide all training, equipment, and ongoing development opportunities.

Expect increased traffic on the roads as visitors unfamiliar with the area travel to and from Dargle from today until Monday . We will have a presence with Wisemans Ferry Rural Fire Service throughout the weekend.

Yesterday, AFAC News released the Bushfire Seasonal Outlook for Winter. NSW has experienced a warmer and drier autumn than usual, with less rainfall than normal.

While parts of the state received some rainfall in mid to late May, it has not been enough to significantly improve the long-term rainfall deficits or ongoing dry conditions. As a result, many areas remain unusually dry, with some parts of northern NSW already experiencing drought conditions.

Looking ahead, forecasts suggest winter is also likely to be drier than average, particularly later in the season, with warmer daytime temperatures expected across much of the state. These conditions, especially across northern, central and eastern NSW, are increasing the risk of bushfires this winter, including fires that may be more difficult to control.
