The St Helens SES extends our deepest condolences to our neighbours at TAS SES - Glamorgan Springbay Unit on the heartbreaking loss of one of their own.

Jason was more than a colleague โ€” he was a kind, steady, and genuine presence who made every interaction a little brighter. It was a privilege to work alongside him on the few occasions that presented, and his loss is felt deeply by all who knew him.

Our hearts are with his family, friends, and the entire GSB unit. We stand with you in this time of sorrow, and we will always remember Jason with warmth and gratitude.

๐ŸฆบOn a recent Saturday, the St Helens SES Unit conducted a comprehensive Road Crash Rescue (RCR) training session, led by our experienced Unit Manager.

๐ŸฆบThis training day provided an invaluable opportunity for our newer members to develop essential skills and gain a foundational understanding of the key principles and procedures involved in RCR operations. Participants engaged in practical, hands-on exercises designed to simulate real-world emergency scenarios, enhancing their confidence and readiness to respond effectively to road crash incidents in our community.

๐ŸฆบWe are proud to support the ongoing professional development of our volunteers and remain committed to ensuring all members are well-equipped to provide timely and effective assistance when it matters most.

The spotlight has been on the St Helens Unit this week! ๐ŸŸง๐ŸŸฆ

๐Ÿฆบ๐Ÿ™Œ Itโ€™s National Volunteer Week and weโ€™re saying thank you to our volunteers at Tasmania SES who assist us and help in โ€˜connecting communitiesโ€™, which is the theme of this weekโ€™s national celebration.

๐Ÿฆบ Today, weโ€™re shining our orange spotlight on St Helens SESโ€ฆ

Through fundraising for local charities such as The Lighthouse, supporting the Pyengana Easter Festival and participating in events such as the Christmas Parade, St Helens SES has built strong ties within the community and raised awareness about their role and the assistance available to people in times of need.

The Unit is proud of their long-standing community efforts and the relationships theyโ€™ve nurtured with the people around them.

The members are not just volunteers; they are part of the community they serve.

With opportunities for everyone, regardless of your skills or experience, you can find a place volunteering at Tasmania SES where you can contribute and grow.

Last weekend, seven members of the St Helens Unit participated in a Storm Damage course led by our Regional Training Officer and Regional Officer.

The course comprised multiple elements, including sandbagging, water redirection, setting up a rooftop system, and completing temporary repairs on a damaged structure.

The unit now boasts seven Storm-trained members, with five of those also completing the additional rooftop component.

There's a role for everyone in our unit, and if you've been considering joining the SES, now is the perfect time. We encourage you to contact us, and we would be happy to answer any questions you may have.
