Thanks to the amazing work of volunteers at Fusion Sydney North and the generosity of the Hornsby community, we had the opportunity to ease the Christmas financial burden of 40 families in the Penrith and Blacktown area.

This is what we can do with your help.

Yesterday our team dropped these off to the families of young people who have been part of our work this year. What these families bring to our local community is so valuable, and the gratitude they shared with us was overwhelming.

Starting next Tuesday 11th Feb, for 8 weeks, at North St Marys Neighbourhood Centre, you’ll meet a group of people who are on the journey too. You’ll come away with insights into family dynamics, practical tools to help your family thrive, and new friends to encourage you as you give it all a go.

Do you want to be a better friend? On RUOK? DAY, get started with some of these ideas and spread some sunshine today.

1. Make a phone call! When a friend comes to mind, make the call. Sometimes a message just isn’t enough. Making a call can open the door to a conversation when it’s needed most.
2. Knock on the door. Drop by just to say hello.
3. Make a meal and drop it in.
4. Invite your friend to go for a walk with you. Walking together can help create a safe space for the deeper conversations.
5. Let someone know you that you’ve noticed they’re up or down.
6. Make space for someone else in your day.

RUOK? Day is almost here, reminding us how important it is to be connected to other people. It doesn’t matter who we are, what we do, or where we live. Being part of a community matters to our health and wellbeing.

Our Families Courses kick off for Term 3 next week. You can join a small group of parents, grandparents and carers, who are committed to building a picture of the family-life they want. Together you’ll discover ways to make that happen.

Each group is a welcoming, relaxed space where you can ask questions and share your experiences with others - just like our course pictured here at St Mary's last term!

The Carers Group has some guest speakers this Wed! Someone from Northcott, and someone from Uniting to talk about the NDIS. Please come along and bring anyone who needs to hear about the NDIS. 10.30-11.30am this Wed 10th July and Bidwill Uniting.
