2. Roland AP-2 Phase. Lovely, 6-stage JFET design brings 70s swirl.

WE’RE ON THE MOVE

After six years in our Marrickville location, I’m moving the shop to Figtree in Wollongong. I’m currently not taking on any new work but will be open ~Mid-March 2025 for new repairs in Wollongong.

I’m currently still working out how to service all our amazing Sydney clients who can’t make the trip down the coast or send in items for repair. I’m thinking about offering a pick up and drop off service every few weeks or so. Keep an eye out here and on the website for updates. For those who will make the trip, I’ll have a coffee waiting :-)

Big thanks to Tom who finished up with me last week. Tom has been helping out with the repair que a couple of days a week for close to 8 years! I haven’t done the count but the amount of amps he has repaired in that time is quite staggering. I’m going to miss the weekly hangs, laughs, tech expertise and informal guitar lessons :-) And as much as he tried, I’m still clueless about fishing and car related proclivities.

Going to miss Jon from Bondi Effects too, who has frequented upstairs for the past year and a half. Always interesting and inspiring to see what engineering wormhole he is currently going down. Also v. Good for the hangs and laughs. Lucky to have worked on some collaborative projects together in that time too.

For items that are current in the cue which haven’t been collected or are still are awaiting repair they will be safely transported to new shop and return freight, delivery or collection will be offered once complete. Please get in contact if you require any more information.

Stellar sounding, 60s Gibson GA-5 (their answer to the venerable Fender 5F1 Champ) in for a little servicing and safety upgrades. ✅🎛️🔈

I forgot to take a photo of it but the amp came in a cute, old custom carry case.

Workshop will be closed Thurs (today, 1st Aug) and Fri, reopening as per usual Wednesday 7th August next wk. Car is loaded up and I’m road tripping on important business - heading to Brisbane Pedal Party with Pedal Empire and Chase Bliss for the launch of their Australia hub this Saturday, 3rd August!

Jon (Bondi Effects) and I are releasing a new collaborative pedal which we are very proud of on Saturday. I’ll have them, Gliss Drives and Bondi Effects pedals ready for demo and purchase at the party. Come have a yarn and play some pedals! My social battery is charged and I am looking forward to meeting some new friends, seeing some old ones and maybe doing a sneaky amp repair along the way. ✌🏼🎛️🌈🔊✔️🤝🏻🚗

Glasses are almost off for the year! Well, at least figuratively, as they’re kinda a full time thing in regard to vision :-)

I’ll be closing up the shop for a break and recoup from 3pm this arvi, returning mid-Jan.

Massive thank you to everyone who got some repaired, built or modded this year. I really appreciate it. It’s never lost to work on cool equipment for good people. Big shout out to Hot Dog Tom S, the couple days a week on the tools in here is an invaluable help.

Looking forward to family time, food, music study and not much else!

Thanks to all of you who brought or sent something in for repair, got an amp built, picked up a Gliss Drive, or even had a yarn (we all know I love a little chat 😬) - as always it means a lot.

Wishing you all a safe and nice break. I’m closing the shop this afternoon for a few weeks and will be reopening on Monday, 16th Jan 2023. Time to hang with fam, mellow out and remember how to play guitar 😘 🎛🌈🎅

Hey there!

There’s only a handful of Gliss Drives left and I have made five special GDs in cream that feature black chicken head k***s and a blue status indicator (swipe right). I reckon these look rad. I also have a few standard cream pedals in stock too. These are the last of Glisses in cream I will make.

All the current stock is listed on our site and up for the picking now! For a limited time these will ship free express within Australia and flat $25AU for the rest of the world by the ever-speedy DHL express.

We have sold out of standard Black Gliss Drives but our good friends and currently have stock if you wanting to nab one of those.

These will be last GDs available for a little… I have a couple new things in the works. Thank you to every bud for the support, wether you’ve grabbed a pedal, got something repaired or built, or even had a chat, it means a lot. ✌🏼🎛🌈

Out One Year Today.

Thank you to everybody who has purchased a Gliss Drive, sent a kind note about how you’re using your GD or asked about it, your support means a lot.

The first batch were made in our back shed during the 3-month C19 hard lockdown in Sydney, Australia when the only people I got see were Harvey and Mima (good crew fortunately 😀).

‘Tis the season for Christmas tunes and this one written by Guaraldi for The Charlie Christmas Special is my pick.

The music nerd in me always wants to work out why my ear perks up, and on reflection there are many little cool twists here. Nice harmony against a fairly simple form with the melody mostly moving in thirds spelling out the upper structure of root Maj 7 chord. Check the chord in the second bar of the verse that proceeds the opening Fmaj9 - lovely extended sound of a Eb maj diad in the LH with a Db augmented triad in the RH. The some what unprepared modulation to Db major (I guess a common tone modulation with the third of Db ((F)) being the original tonic) in the bridge is another ear tug, super cool, especially for a Xmas song.

Sorry for the non-repair/gear post :-) but as the gear fixing ramps down for the year there’s a nice little two week window to enjoy some more music, family and food, and I hope for you too! Thanks to everybody for this year, we appreciate all the work through the doors. Workshop will be back open 10th Jan 2022.
