The Sale and District Orchid Club’s 2026 Spring Show is on this weekend, showcasing a stunning exhibition of cymbidiums, native orchids and many other varieties.

Whether you’re a devoted orchid collector, a green-thumbed gardener or simply love a colourful spring outing, pop in to admire the displays, pick up some inspiration and see the experts in action.

Sparkle Gippsland is returning to The Middle of Everywhere for round 3!

Following the success of previous retreats, SPARKLE is bringing its one-day women’s wellbeing experience back to the beautiful Mewburn Park, just out of Maffra.

Designed for women looking for a chance to pause, reconnect and invest in themselves, the day brings together wellbeing, movement, mindfulness, creativity, connection and a little bit of magic, all surrounded by the peaceful Gippsland countryside.

The carefully curated program includes yoga, EFT tapping, mini workshops, journaling, a shamanic journey with sound healing, an inspiring Q&A panel, nourishing food and plenty of opportunities to discover something new.

Guests can also visit the Healing Hub, meet local practitioners and explore some of the incredible wellbeing experiences available right here in our region.

Whether you come with your best friend, sister, mum, colleagues or completely on your own, SPARKLE offers a welcoming space to breathe, move, laugh, learn and connect. There’s no pressure to have everything figured out. Simply come as you are.

This special event is also a celebration of Gippsland women supporting Gippsland women, showcasing the talented practitioners, facilitators, businesses and creatives found throughout our region.

The Cowwarr Hotel doors are very nearly ready to swing again and we totally can not wait!

With fabulous new owners at the helm, some gorgeous refurbishments, inside and out, nearly complete, and even the addition of a coffee window, this much-loved local icon is set to reopen in late September.

There’s so much to look forward to including a courtesy bus named Daisy to help locals get home safely, Duncan the Cow…to come and have a drink with, and a passionate team who are so ready to run ‘your local’.

An incredible amount of work has gone into bringing the old girl back to her prime, with plenty of character and thoughtful details throughout. The menu is also taking shape, featuring some great pub classics named in honour of the Cowwarr locals who have generously donated their time, skills and talents to help bring this special place back to life.

A huge thank you to Alison and the Team for having us and sharing a sneak peek behind the scenes. We wish you every success and can’t wait to visit again when the doors are officially open.

Health, fitness and wellness in The Middle of Everywhere! 💪🥊

We stopped by Fortified Physiotherapy a proud Gippsland Business Awards finalist offering all your health, rehabilitation and fitness needs under one roof. Linley gave us an incredible consultation and we can see why people are choosing Fortified!

We also caught up with the team at South Eastern Fight Fitness (SEFF), where fitness and boxing come together in a welcoming and supportive environment. With classes for children and adults, there is something for everyone, whether you want to improve your fitness, learn new skills or step into the ring for real!

What a “pawsome” day at the annual Dachy Dash! 😏

It was amazing to see so many adorable dachshunds all in one place, and even better that place was Maffra!

A huge turnout, plenty of wagging tails and so much fun for everyone who enjoyed yet another amazing event at Maffco Brewery and Taphouse.

The Middle of Everywhere Dog lovers, this one’s for you!

Make a weekend of it in Maffra this weekend for the Sale/Maffra & Dist. Kennel Club and Macalister AB Kennel & Obedience Club Gippsland International Winter Festival happening this weekend, 21–23 August 2026, at the Maffra Showgrounds.

With four championship shows, more than 500 dogs and over 100 breeds, there’ll be plenty to see, do and admire.

Spectators are welcome, with trade stalls, catering, free entry and plenty of free parking available.

Show times:
Friday 21 August: 11am–4pm
Saturday 22 August: 8am–4pm
Sunday 23 August: 9am–1pm

Whether you’re a devoted dog person, love discovering something new, or are looking for a great day out with the whole family, this is one to add to the weekend itinerary.
