A wet and dreary night at training last night, but a great opportunity to get out the rescue tools and practice some precision with a game of Jenga!

It might looks like a bit if fun, but it takes quite a bit of coordination between pairs of players, strength and careful movements to try not to knock the tower down.

The same coordination and careful movements are utilised in our rescue operations when we need to use the tools in emergencies. These tools do take a lot of practice to become an experienced operator, even after doing the training course.

Day 2 at Bunnings Sale official opening!

Come down and say "Hi!" to our members, check out our rescue tools, get some free stickers or activity sheets for the kids, and maybe chat about membership 😜

This weekend is the formal opening of the new Bunnings store in Sale! (One of the biggest in VIC, we're told!)

Our members are on site with our rescue truck, and plenty of info about what we do.

At this week's training session, we practiced some flood skills. We loaded up our trash pumps, hooked up our semi-rigid Kodiak boat, and headed to the Port of Sale.

4 of our Boat crew trained team headed up the Thompson river, testing out the new spotlights and re-familiarising with our boat systems and techniques.

The rest of us setup our pumps on the loading ramps, giving them a good run and practising setting them up and getting them going. (We also discovered that a traffic cone makes a great funnel for priming the pumps 🤣)

Overall an enjoyable night!
