One Planet Classrooms Directly supporting children and communities living in poverty in developing countries, to bring about a better world for future generations

One Planet Classrooms is an initiative by Kerryn Vaughan, author of 'Magnificent Kids! - 23 Superheroes who are changing the world'. 'Magnificent Kids!' celebrates the positives in kids and highlights their unique abilities and qualities. The book aims to empower every kid on the planet to be their best and shine their magnificence with confidence and authenticity. One Planet Classrooms was found

ed as a result of Kerryn working closely with an amazing, dedicated teacher in Guinea, who was (and still is) struggling to keep the school afloat due to the devastating impact of the Ebola virus. What was originally a plan to set up one classroom with some Skype contacts, has now become a project that will connect poorly resourced schools in third world countries, with well resourced schools, and build relationships across the globe that will empower the next generation.

Thank you so much Jane for your kindness and generosity!

You have helped us to buy bedding, utensils and mosquito nets for Mgonibaba and his son.

Mgonibaba had a severely rotting foot several weeks ago, and we were able to get him medical treatment and it is now healing. But sleeping in the dirt wasn't helping one bit, so Jane, you have made a massive difference to his life.

Thank you โค๏ธ

This is so wonderful! A couple of weeks ago we were able to build a new house for Yakobo's family thanks to Val, after the old house was burnt down.

Today we were able to provide the family with bedding, food and utensils thanks to the generosity of Dee and Sam.

Thanks so much for Muhumuza M Jackson and Karoori on the ground in Uganda helping us bring these projects to life.

We are hoping to support a women's empowerment project with sewing machines in the very near future but need support to make this happen. Each machine (pedal machine) is $200, so if you'd like to help empower a village of women, we'd love to accept your support! ๐Ÿ˜

So blessed to be doing such impactful work โค๏ธ

Thank you so much for the generous support to help us get another project underway.

Yakobo's house was burnt to the ground several weeks ago, and work has been taking place to build a new home for the family.

All their belongings were burnt in the fire, so any support to buy new utensils would be greatly appreciated.

We can provide:
Food for $75
Cooking utensils for $60
Bedding (mattresses, sheets & mozi nets) for $100

Please let us know if you'd like to help out with any of these

Thank you โค๏ธ

Thank you so much for the support we have received since our last post ๐Ÿ’™

We have been able to continue school sponsorships for some of the children whoโ€™s sponsors were no longer able to continue.

And thank you to a few generous donors we have been able to provide support to others in desperate need ๐Ÿ’™

The man pictured here is single dad Mbonigaba who was in a very bad way with an infected foot. He was facing having to have his lower leg amputated, or even death because he couldnโ€™t afford medical attention.

We have now been able pay for this much needed medical attention.

Weโ€™re also excited to have been able to build a house for a family! Pics coming soon ๐Ÿ

Thank you again for your support ~ it means the world ๐ŸŒŽ ๐Ÿ’™

The effects of Covid have been felt across the world and have impacted countless businesses, charities and not for profits.

One Planet Classrooms has not been immune to this ๐ŸŒŽ

So many are struggling financially, which has impacted on the ability of some of our sponsors to continue to support the children they have been.

This is completely understandable as no one could have predicted the hit the world was about to take.

This has also caused reluctance on our behalf to ask for donations.

We were fortunate to have had some funds saved for community projects like water tanks or other needed items.

Instead of leaving over 20 children unable to return to school, we chose to use these funds to continue to pay for them until weโ€™re able to find another sponsor or have confirmation from current sponsors.

Our team in Africa have been working with families who are in desperate need to ensure they have resources to support home schooling, to have food whilst in lockdown and to give the children the best chance at getting back to school when they are able.

Given this, the funds we now have are at rock bottom and weโ€™re unable to continue to top up sponsorships for those who we havenโ€™t heard from.

If weโ€™ve sent you emails or messages please just let us know ASAP if you canโ€™t continue so we can search for another sponsor for your child.

As a not for profit we are a team of volunteers who give as much as we can personally to support the program, both in time and money, but sometimes thatโ€™s not enough.

We have ongoing costs we need to cover to be able to continue to operate. Many of these costs are unseen by others but they add up:

- overseas postage every time we send a parcel
- NFP registration
- International transaction fees
- Bank fees
- web hosting fees etc
- Accounting system fees
- Extra supplies to sponsored students
- And so much more

Weโ€™re posting this to provide complete transparency.

We want OPC to continue, we want to be able to support those who need it most, to allow children to have an education and to empower and support communities to have clean drinking water. As well as to enable young girls to escape child marriage, and have the best chance they can in life.

If you are a sponsor we thank you from the bottom of our hearts ๐Ÿ’™

If youโ€™d like to sponsor a child whose sponsor has been unable to continue please contact us.

If you would like to donate in any way please contact us or donate here:

Africa, along with many other countries has had postage suspended so weโ€™re very excited to finally be able to send these sanitary pads, dresses and bags over to Kenya! ๐Ÿ’™

These will go to our partner Beth Wawira who is supporting countless girls she has rescued from child marriage, and female ge***al mutilation during covid ๐Ÿ’™

Thank you for the tireless work you do Beth ๐Ÿ™

So happy to have helped this family to build a new home after their old home was burned down by thugs.

Thanks also to the unknown supporters who helped with food and utensils.

Thanks Niyonzima Karoori for all the amazing work you do supporting your community.

And a massive thanks to those who drop a few dollars into our account here and there. Itโ€™s these spare dollars that make these things happen ๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ’•

Here's a wonderful opportunity to chip in $20 to help women in Uganda to cultivate small farms.

The crowdfunding campaign ends in 1 day and if they don't make the target they will miss out on all the donations so far.

If you can help them achieve this, how great will you feel - for such a little amount. ๐Ÿ’“

Business continuity as a path out of poverty. Mukusu needs resources to get implements so farmers can work. The money from this initiative will be used to buy implements for mini-tractors that service the small farms.
