Sarah Luscombe - Councillor for Coastal Ward, City of Marion

Sarah Luscombe - Councillor for Coastal Ward, City of Marion Coastal Ward Councillor, City of Marion. Authorised by S Luscombe, PO Box 82 Seacliff Park SA 5049. Hi, I’m Sarah Luscombe. Views are my own. Authorised by: S.

Views on this page are my own, not necessarily those of council. I’m your local Coastal Ward Councillor in the Marion Council. The Coastal Ward is a great place to live. Whether it’s our pristine coastal environment, our quiet residential streets, or our strong sense of community, there’s a reason we’ve all come together in this community. I’m a local Hallett Cove resident, having bought my house

here in 2009. I’m a mum, a clinical psychologist, a gardener, a community volunteer, and a dog owner. Let's keep making the Coastal Ward a place where community matters and where we protect our environment. I'm here to act fairly and in our local interests. As your voice on council, I'll make sure community stays at the heart of what we do. That means supporting our sports teams and community groups with proper funding. It means reducing rubbish and waste in our creeks and waterways. It means making sure our disabled and elderly residents can get around easily. And it means more green public spaces and thriving local businesses where we can enjoy the community we all love. My values and priorities which will help me to deliver positive outcomes for our local area include:

- Fairness, honesty, equality, and social justice
- Environmental and ecological sustainability
- Community belonging, participation and inclusion

As your ward councillor, my vision includes building on local community services, clubs, activities and ways to get involved in our community; looking after our environment; improving action against climate change; better waste and recycling management; and improving opportunities for small businesses to flourish in our area. Our thoughts are with the Nepalese community following the devastating natural disaster in Nepal.

We know many people in our City of Marion community have family, friends and connections to Nepal.

We’re thinking of everyone affected, and our local Nepalese community, during this difficult time.

What a wonderful atmosphere last night at A Winters Night at Marino! ❄️ it was a huuuge turnout and even made it onto the news!

What an incredible story!

Do your remember ‘Miss Stayput’?🏡

The Marion woman who refused to leave her home as shopping centre developers closed in around her.

"Miss Eva Phelps was an example of the gold old, sturdy, resilient settlers or people early in the district who had to work hard to survive," said Marion Heritage Research Centre coordinator Danielle Trewartha.

"They worked hard, built their community, her father was an original to Marion, her whole family was nearby.

"They had market gardens and had this courage and resilience to come and develop the land, and they didn't take things lying down."

It meant by 1968 when the centre opened, her house was surrounded on three sides by a car park and would stay that way for nearly a decade, leaving people to walk around her property to enter the growing shopping mall.

Have your say on the new Boatshed Cafe lease here!

In my view, we are incredibly lucky to have such a fabulous local business with us leasing the building.

We are seeking community feedback on a proposed lease renewal for the Boatshed Cafe building at Hallett Cove. 💬

The current operator has requested a new lease of 7 years, plus a 5-year right of renewal, to provide certainty for the business and support future investment.

Under the Local Government Act 1999, we are required to consult with the community on lease arrangements for community land that exceed 5 years.

Tell us what you think here 👉 https://www.makingmarion.com.au/boatshed-cafe

Consultation closes Tuesday 22 July.
