Steel reveal!

Check out what Baz has been cooking up in his workshop. Lovely piece of mosaic Damascus steel for a custom order. The handle will be complete in the coming days.

Always remember that when you support local makers you are paying for both the materials and their investment of time. Our mosaic Damascus pieces are our most premium product and they do attract a premium price tag, simply because of the time that Barry pours into each billet. Layers of steel are folded and cut with meticulous attention to detail, and the belief that each knife should be slightly better than the last. ⭐️

Little bit of mosaic Damascus for an end cap!

This will form the very end part of a knife handle on one of our upcoming custom knives. Adding an end-cap is a labour of love (for polishing 😜) so you won’t see this addition on all of our knives. It also needs to be carefully considered as an end-cap on the wrong knife can create weight imbalances in the handle.

But Baz has got just the blade in mind to complement this beautiful piece of steel.

✈️ Two hunters on their way to Switzerland after customer, and now friend, Peter added to his toolkit this week. Thank you for the support and genuine enthusiasm for quality and skill in knifemaking, Peter.

🔪 Top knife: Hunting knife in random-pattern Damascus, with Australian Gidgee timber and black G10 handle. A practical, durable knife designed for heavy use in the field.

🔪 Bottom knife: Scandi-style hunting knife. Multi-bar Damascus with Ram’s horn and Australian Mallee root timber handle. A favourite of Barry’s, both durable and beautiful.

Steel forged by Barry, handles prepared by Barry. 🔥

🤩 Review! ⬇️

“As a professional Chef with more years of experience than I care to admit 😆 you might be right in thinking I know a bit about chefs knives 🔪

I was very fortunate to be given a very special custom forged knife for Christmas from my wife, and I just wanted to give a shout-out to the maker of this knife who is a Barossa Valley local small business and deserves all the recognition that I can heap upon him.

My new knife is by far the best knife I’ve had in my long career and is a testament to the skills of this local artisan.

Barry Gardner is a local Angaston resident who owns and operates from his tiny workshop at Seppeltsfield.

Take it from me; if you are after a truly magnificent inife, then check out Barry’s work at either his workshop or at Sunshine Barossa Australia who also stock his knives.”

Thank you CaterCentral! Absolute pleasure to have one of our pieces in your tool kit 🙂
