Vote1MikiW-Loddon Shire Loddon Shire Council Inglewood ward Councillor

So saddened to hear that Saint Mary’s primary school in Inglewood is closing at the end of this year. The last alternative to a government education in the Loddon Shire. For the beautiful little Community that have educated their children there in the past and presently - this is devastating news- regardless of anyone’s religious persuasion this is a sad day for the whole community.

Just delighted to be at Inglewood Pool with Linda Younghusband and Stuart Luckman for the announcement that the Inglewood District Community Bank is partnering with the Council to bring “Learn to swim in Loddon” again. Stuart is just so passionate about this program - we are so lucky to have the Community Bank in our Community.

Please help if you can!!

Are you shivering through these chilly nights? Then spare a thought for some of our four-legged friends.
Our animal pound hosts a range of visitors who feel the cold as much, or maybe even more, than we do.
We’re running desperately short of blankets to keep them warm so we’re calling out for donations of any spare clean blankets and towels that you may have lying around.
If you can help, and we know pound residents would REALLY appreciate it, please drop them into the Council office at 41 High St, Wedderburn, between 8.15am and 4.45pm each weekday.
There’s a collection bin in the foyer that you can drop them in to.
And on behalf of our pooches and moggies, thank you.

All elected Local Govt people- Mayors, Deputies and Councillors have been invited to make submissions to the state government on a determination of allowances 2026; i think that means wage increase!
I made the following submission:

Tribunal Secretariat,
I welcome the opportunity to make a submission to the Victorian Independent Remuneration Tribunal on the Allowances for Mayors, Deputy Mayors and Councillors 2026 Determination.
The role of a Councillor, Mayor or Deputy Mayor are initially voluntary; and the individual choosing to undertake these roles has a responsibility to understand what the role incorporates and requires in terms of time, commitment and remuneration. There is not only mandatory education prior to nominating (including the roles and responsibilities) there is further training once elected. Remuneration is clearly pointed out throughout this process.
I do not believe there is any case for elected Local government representatives to -after the fact- feel they are not adequately renumerated.
I also think, that at this time when the burdens being imposed by state Government on our Communities -ESVF levy- land tax - and other federal imposts would not be welcomed by the Communities we represent, nor do I or I'm sure any of my colleagues want to be the one to tell our Communities there is no money to fix roads, no money for ambulance stations, no money for childcare - but money for Councillors and Mayors to get a pay increase.
I believe the credibility of Local Government would be strongly strengthened if the determination was not to change the current allowances.
Yours Sincerely
Cr Miki Wilson
