Have you seen this plant? 🔍

Sea spurge is a small, blue-green coastal w**d that grows on beaches in thick patches along the dunes.

It spreads quickly and:
🔹stops the natural movement of sand
🔹changes the natural shape and structure of dunes
🔹ruins nesting areas for threatened shorebirds
🔹reduces the number of native plants
🔹limits access for walkers and beach users
🔹contains poisonous sap that can irritate skin and eyes

Seen it? Report it to the Illawarra District Weeds Authority on 4233 1129.

For more info on how to identify this plant visit NSW WeedWise 👉 w**ds.dpi.nsw.gov.au/Weeds/seaspurge

Protecting Stony Range Reserve starts at home 🌿

Simple actions like keeping garden waste out of the reserve, choosing native plants for your garden and joining local planting days can make a real difference.

This NSW Environmental Trust-funded restoration project is helping protect and repair the Illawarra Subtropical Rainforest and the threatened plant species that call it home.

Together, we can help keep this special bushland thriving.

Yesterday the Illawarra recorded its first detection of H5 avian influenza after a Greater Crested Tern found near Windang tested positive for the disease.

We are asking residents to help by being on the lookout. If you see a sick or dead bird or marine mammal:

❌ AVOID contact with the animal and their environment
📸 RECORD what you see and where (take photos or videos if possible)
☎️ REPORT it by calling the Emergency Animal Disease Hotline on 1800 675 888
