TRUCK FIRE - PRINCES HIGHWAY

This morning, Shoalhaven Heads Brigade was called to reports of a truck fire involving a load of recycling materials on the Princes Highway.

Firefighters from multiple brigades worked together to control the fire, operating in breathing apparatus due to the nature of the materials involved. The truck was required to be emptied so crews could properly extinguish the smouldering recycling before it was later reloaded into another truck.

More than 60,000 litres of water were used to fully extinguish the fire and ensure the scene was made safe.

This incident is a timely reminder to please be cautious about what you place in your rubbish and recycling bins. Incorrectly disposed items, including batteries and other hazardous materials, can pose a serious fire risk during collection and transport.
