Helbar Farm Photography Gallery & Open Garden

Helbar Farm Photography Gallery & Open Garden The result of a hobby gone feral, the photography gallery offers an interesting view of Silverton. The garden is an unexpected oasis in a harsh environment

Nestled in a hollow overlooking Umberumberka Creek, Silverton, lies Helbar Farm. Owned by Barry and Helen Murray, the farm is home to Barry's racehorses and more recently, Helen's passion for photography and gardening. Interest in Helen's "hobby gone feral" has led her to open a small gallery on the property to showcase her photographic work. The gallery is packed with images of all-things Silvert

on, from dust storms to flooded creeks and everything in between.Works for sale to suit all budgets, from postcards to fine art pieces. The garden has grown from a yard full of prickles to a pleasant outback oasis filled with rustic water features and plants ranging from cacti to gardenias. The property has an interesting history and this is reflected in the old wares and implements set into the garden. So come and visit us and be pleasantly surprised. No set opening hours (I have to get out and take photos occasionally), but I do try to be open most of the time.

Just a quick update on this page folks. I have let this page keep going as people are still finding it and then moving over to Silverton Photography. Silverton Photography is the new name for my Gallery and I now put all my photography related posts on that page, so come on over and check it out, there's always something going on:)

Okay everyone, I have set up a new page called Silverton Photography. I feel this better represents my gallery and it's way easier to say and write!! Very shortly, I will be trying to merge this page with the new one, so the Helbar Farm page will no longer exist. Thanks to everyone who has followed my work and escapades so far, I hope you will all follow me over to Silverton Photography. Check it out now.

Next weekend is a big one. We have three horses racing at St Pat's Races (their 50th anniversary!!) on Saturday, so the gallery will be closed. Sunday, however, is a different matter. The gallery will be open all day, as it is St Pat's Recovery Day in Silverton. The Silverton Hotel is hosting it's 40th Recovery Day and we are hoping for a huge turnout. There are lots of visitors in the area already, so please call in and say hello and check out the Gallery and gardens. My signs will be decked out in green balloons and streamers next Sunday (15th March) to show you the way here. Hope you have a great day at the races, come and say hello and meet the "boys" Manny(Triumphant One), Jack (Helbartor) and Oscar (Magnusificent). Hopefully we will have a winner for you to pat on Sunday!! Just a little side note, Baz is one of only four remaining jockeys in the Broken Hill area who rode at the very first St Pat's meeting. He ran 3rd in the main race of the day, so it would be nice to train a winner this meeting.

mmm...., well it seems changing the name of a page isn't so easy. I have been looking into it and even though I have changed the name of the business and all my signs now say SILVERTON PHOTOGRAPHY, Facebook isn't so easy to deal with. I think I'll deal with this again later, when I have had plenty of sleep and thinking very clearly lol.

I finally have my computer back!! I'm still sorting through a few things, getting everything back where I want it, but hopefully I will be providing you with more photos from the Silverton area very soon and keeping you all up to date with what's happening around the place......oh and I might actually get to change the name of the page now! Don't forget.....Silverton Photography.

We'll folks, never a dull moment around here. Just after my last post my computer crashed, so I am writing this from my phone. All I can say is thank heaven for external hard drives and backup !! I should have my repaired and upgraded computer back tomorrow, so I will be back on deck then. In the mean time, welcome to the new people who have liked the page and thanks to all those viewing. Stay tuned for the next exciting episode......something is bound to come up!

Well folks, a little while ago I mentioned there were going to be a few things happening this year and the first one just did! I have just changed my business name to Silverton Photography. I was finding the Helbar Farm thing all a bit of a mouthful and it was causing a little confusion with some visitors, so hopefully, Silverton Photography simplifies and clarifies. I hope you all like it. The only thing that will change here is the name of the page, so please bare with me while I change that (none of these things are straight forward). Obviously, I will also change my signs on the road and the listings I have with Broken Hill City Council through the visitor information centre. So....all set for a fresh start and more fun things to come, so please tag along and see what happens next!!
