Dear Singleton Community,

It is with a very heavy heart that I need to postpone our “Your Place to Connect” event planned for this Friday, 15 May 2026.

Unfortunately, the weather forecast is not looking favourable, and I feel the risk of the event being washed out is simply too high at this stage.

I have also spoken with some of our regular clients and volunteers, and many have expressed concerns about attending if it is raining.

I would hate for the event to fall short because of the weather, and I am hopeful that by selecting a new date in the near future, we will have much better conditions and be able to enjoy the event as planned.

The Centre and I sincerely apologise for the short notice. I have been struggling with this decision, but unfortunately, I feel it is unavoidable at this time.

I will be in touch again very soon with details of a new date.
Thank you so much for your understanding, and again, my sincere apologies.

Thank you, SNC and OpenDoor

May marks Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Month.

The message is simple - No tolerance for domestic and family violence.

Abuse isn’t always visible.
It can be control, manipulation, isolation or fear.

If you’re experiencing it — support is here.
If you’re using violence — it’s time to take responsibility and seek help.

At Got Your Back Sista, we support women impacted by domestic and family violence while strongly advocating for a future free from violence.

🤝 Join us in honouring National Reconciliation Week 2026 with a flag raising ceremony at Singleton Civic Centre from 10.30am on Thursday 28 May.

This year’s theme, All In, is a call for all Australians to commit wholeheartedly to reconciliation every day.

The ceremony will include:
🖤 Welcome to Country
💬 Address by Deputy Mayor Cr Sue George
✨ Response to the Theme
💃 Dance performances from local school students
🔴 Raising of the Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander and Australian flags

Can’t attend in person? The event will be livestreamed on Singleton Council’s page.

National Reconciliation Week is an opportunity for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures and achievements, and reflect on how each of us can contribute to reconciliation.

When someone stops showing up to things, there’s usually more going on than it seems.

A quick private message, a “hey, you OK?” or “want to do something lower‑key?” can make things feel a lot more comfortable for them.

SNC has some very exciting news — the Centre now has its very own car! 🚗

We would like to sincerely thank Singleton OP Shop for their incredibly generous donation towards the purchase of the vehicle, and Singleton Mazda for all their help and assistance throughout the process, as well as for looking after us and the car in the future.

A special thank you also goes to Its Endless for the fantastic sign writing — the car looks amazing!

We are so excited about the endless opportunities this vehicle will bring for the Centre and our community. While we are unable to transport clients at this stage, who knows what the future may hold!

Thank you again to everyone who helped make this possible. We are truly grateful for your generosity and support.
