Pretty sage advice, is your smoke alarm due to be replaced?

Smoke alarms, unlike wine, do not age well over time.

Did you know that most smoke alarms have a use-by date? Some modern smoke alarms have a life-span of up to ten years and may not have a battery to change, making it easy to forget how long since they’ve been installed.

Remember to regularly clean and test your alarms, and check the use-by date to help keep track of their age.

❄️With the nights starting to turn chilly, please check your electric blankets for any folds, cracks, or signs of damage.

🔴Before Use: Test the blanket annually for damaged wires, scorching, or frayed cords.

🔴Maintenance: If the blanket is over 10 years old or shows signs of wear, replace it immediately.

🔴Placement: Ensure the blanket lies flat on the bed and is securely fastened.

🔴Usage: Turn the blanket on to warm the bed, but turn it off before you get in.

🔴Safety Limits: Do not use electric blankets for infants, young children, or individuals with limited mobility.

🔴Storage: Always roll the blanket for storage instead of folding, which can damage the internal wiring.

🥳Exciting historical day in the Palms!

The building of our communities new RFS station has began!

The turning of the Sod was done by, our brigades Captain Jimmy Turner, with Mid Coast District Manager, Superintendent Ugo Tolone and the Hon Tanya Thompson MP, along side.

The turning of the sod, is breaking the ground on the first day of site work, with a shovel, to symbolize a new beginning.

Many members of our brigade turned out to witness this long awaited start.

We look forward to our new beginning!

Channel 9 news was there to capture this historic moment, along with local media.

Keep your eyes on the build as it takes shape and we look forward to welcoming our community, in 6 months time to our official opening.

Our thanks go to many that kept this ball rolling, on the long journey we have traveled to get this far!

Many of us never thought we would see the day! 😃

Horay !!!

Pacific Palms RFS would like to congratulate our 2 latest tanker drivers!

Cruz and Hanna!

Both committed firefighters, these youthful members are the future of our brigade, and it’s a pleasure to work along side of you both.

A huge thank you to Mark M for your commitment of many hours of driver training to help these two firefighters reach their goals!

If you have ever dreamed of driving the big red truck, putting wet stuff on the hot stuff, or have some time free to volunteer in non fire ground activities, we are ready and waiting for you.

Drop up to the station around 6 on any Tuesday night or fill in an application at https://www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/volunteer/join-the-nsw-rfs and we will be in touch .

Hello to all of our great community,

With the weather still warm and although permits are now lifted, we strongly encourage the community to continue holding off on doing any burn offs or pile burns untill it cools down.

With countless fires around, our crews are stretched and becoming exhausted 🔥

You deciding to do a burn on your property may spark fear in the community leading to “ smoke sighting call outs “ and there for taking us away from the fires at hand that do need our attention.

Stay safe, stay smart and continue doing the great work!

Tomorrow the 17th APRIL FIRE DANGER RATING IS HIGH!!

Thanks guys! 🚒

It’s important to remember, that while, many landholders may no longer require a fire permit with the end of permit season, you are still legally required to notify the RFS and your neighbours of your intention to burn, at least 24 hours before lighting a fire.

Fires must be supervised at all times by a responsible adult, have a fire break of at least 5 metres cleared, and you need to extinguish the fire completely before leaving it.

Do ensure you have access to water and a hose that will reach the area you are setting your fire in.

We are absolutely heartbroken and guttered!

Today we were called to a motor vehicle accident with a person trapped only to find that our station had been broken into!

We have lost all our radios, internet, our specialist equipment, chainsaw, RFSA grant items of a light tower and donated items such as a blower and pressure cleaner!

Anyone with any details please let the police know asap!

Please share our post EVERYWHERE!

The handheld radios are engraved.
They took the time to unscrew the chargers from the bench.
They parked down the hill from the station and used the wheelie bin to transport things to the vehicle.

We are cranky, upset and frustrated!
Who does this?

You will not need a special app, just click on the link and you will see where Santa is traveling.

🚒Santa will leave the station at approx 9am and head out Coomba Rd toThomas Rd
