Recently, Reds Global successfully completed the er****on of the first tower crane at FDC Building's IGLU Kensington development, marking the first of three tower cranes that will support this major student accommodation project.

While the finished crane is what everyone sees, the real work starts long before er****on day. Our engineering, project and operations teams worked through detailed lift studies, crane positioning, mobile crane selection, site logistics planning, transport coordination and installation sequencing to ensure a safe and efficient outcome.

The er****on required significant lifting capacity from a large mobile crane, with every component lift carefully planned and executed to suit the site's constraints and construction programme.

With the first crane now installed, attention turns to the next stages of the project as we prepare for the mobilisation and er****on of the remaining two cranes.

The most complex crane projects are rarely about the crane itself.

The Sydney Children’s Hospital redevelopment was a prime example. Multiple surrounding projects were progressing simultaneously under different builders, each with their own tower cranes, construction programs and priorities.

With cranes operating in close proximity, overlapping booms and shared airspace required constant coordination. Add aviation requirements, crane climbs and future height considerations, and the result was a highly complex operating environment.

The challenge was not simply selecting the right equipment. It was continually managing crane interfaces, climb sequences and future project requirements as construction progressed.

A strong reminder that successful materials handling is just as much about planning, coordination and integration as it is about lifting capacity.

Reds Global recently delivered a smarter crane power solution for a 7-storey mixed-use development in Sydney.

The challenge was simple:
The site needed the lifting performance of an MK380 luffing crane, but without upgrading site power or relying on diesel generators.

Our solution was to integrate the crane with a regenerative power system and Energy Storage System (ESS).

Instead of wasting energy during lowering and braking, the system captures it, stores it, and reuses it when the crane needs extra power.

The result?
✅ MK380 operating from a standard 32A power supply
✅ Full lifting capacity maintained
✅ Zero diesel generator use
✅ Reduced emissions and fuel costs
