𝗘𝗦𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘀 | 𝗤𝗘𝗚 𝗙𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗮𝗹 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗴𝘂𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗟𝗲𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝗖𝘂𝗽

Congratulations to the State High Students who participated in the QEG Festival High School League of Legends Cup at the Acer Predator Queensland Esports and Gaming (QEG) Festival 2026 – Ekka.

In total Brisbane State High School was represented by 10 students across two teams. Both teams performed extremely well and made the podium, finishing 2nd and 3rd overall.

The QEG Festival is an annual school Esports tournament held as part of the Ekka, bringing together school Esports teams from across Queensland to compete across a range of games.

The tournament gives our students an opportunity to represent State High in organised interschool esports competition and put their teamwork, communication, strategy, decision-making and ability to perform under pressure into practice.

𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗔𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁

Congratulations to State High student Oliver Moncur on an incredible return to the pool!

Earlier this year, Oliver was selected in the U18 Australian Water Polo World Championships team. Unfortunately, a stress fracture in his back meant he had to withdraw from the team just before the championships.

After six months away from the pool, Oliver showed incredible patience, determination and resilience throughout his recovery.

Just three weeks after returning to water polo training, Oliver represented Queensland School Sport at the Schools Interstate Championships in Woy Woy — and what a comeback it was!

As Captain of the Queensland team, Oliver led his team to victory over three NSW teams, culminating in a fantastic Grand Final. His outstanding performance earned him Grand Final MVP honours, as well as selected in the Team of the Tournament.

What an inspiring demonstration of resilience, leadership and never giving up.

𝗔𝗿𝘁𝘀 𝗦𝗽𝗼𝘁𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁

To celebrate the culmination of their senior work, our Year 12 Music Extension cohort showcased their compositions and performances in an evening performance for friends and family.

We were blown away by the talent of every individual, and of the support each student showed to one another. Well done, Year 12s!

𝗘𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗼𝘆𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗢𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 | 𝗕𝗼𝗮𝘁𝗺𝗮𝗻 - 𝗥𝗼𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺

Brisbane State High School is seeking expressions of interest for a Boat Maintenance Officer (Boatman) to support our Rowing Program. This is to commence in Term 4 and will be for a period of 6 months, with the possibility of extension.

This role focuses on providing maintenance support to the Director of Rowing (MIC) for both boys and girls. The position will be ensuring high quality services are achieved for students in the Rowing Program.

The Boatman reports to the HR Business Manager for HR and administration purposes. The position will work collaboratively and professionally with the MIC assigned to oversee the school's rowing program.

N.B. This position operates outside of standard business hours. Start times during the Rowing Season will be early in the morning and Regattas are generally held on Saturdays. Time in lieu will be negotiated in line with operational requirements.
