The long-running community campaign to koala habitats in the proposed GKNP continues... due to the inexplicable exclusion of state forest habitats connecting Bongil Bongil NP and Bindarri NP (Both the adjoining parks are listed as AIS - Assets of Intergenerational Significance)...
So why is targeting these important forested corridors for clearfell logging?

Thankyou to everyone who came to Pine Creek today, to see some of the forest that is NOT protected in the proposed GKNP, and to show your support for the Forest Bridge.

It was a beautiful day for a walk, and the koala scats right at the start were a blessing ๐Ÿจ

Thanks to Jason and Miriam from the Forest Advocacy Ministry, for your continued work to help protect our local forests.

Thanks to everyone who bought delicious food, and helped in any way... ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿฝ๐ŸŒฒ

60% of the Forest Bridge is still up for logging!
Koala habitat ESSENTIAL for connectivity is still unprotected in Pine Creek State Forest, parts of which are again under imminent threat of logging.

EDIT: Please now see correct map, with revised GKNP boundaries.

60% of the Forest Bridge is still up for logging!

Koala habitat ESSENTIAL for connectivity is still unprotected in Pine Creek State Forest, parts of which are again under imminent threat of logging.

Logging efforts have been interrupted over the past 2 years due to significant community effort and campaigning for the protection of the Forest Bridge.

The โ€˜Forest Bridgeโ€™ proposal seeks to permanently conserve public forest required to complete the missing section of a nationally important wildlife habitat continuum between Bongil Bongil and Bindarri National Parks. The area comprised of native forest and plantation blocks seeks to retain the minimum amount of plantation needed for effective connectivity between the two parks.

Friends of Pine Creek continue to lobby for the recognition and protection of the Forest Bridge.

The attached map shows the parts of the Forest Bridge that are still unprotected by the proposed Great Koala National Park.

Right now, the federal government is asking for feedback on a key part of Australiaโ€™s new environment laws โ€“ the National Environmental Standard for Matters of National Environmental Significance (MNES).

This is the final chance to influence the outcome before the Standard is settled.
