On Friday, 7 August, an executive delegation from the Australian Serbian Commerce Chamber (ASCC) had the honour of attending the Gala Opening Dinner of the 38th Serbian Folkloric Festival in Sydney.

As we approach Census night tomorrow—Tuesday, 11 August 2026—the numbers from previous Censuses prove a powerful truth: when our community stands up and completes the Census accurately, our official presence grows dramatically.

📈 The Data: A 28.5% Growth in Declared Heritage
Between the last two Censuses, Australian residents proudly declaring their Serbian heritage experienced a massive surge:

🏛️ 2016 Census: 73,901 people declared Serbian ancestry.
📈 2021 Census: 94,997 people declared Serbian ancestry.
🚀 The Shift: An increase of +21,096 people (+28.5% growth) in just five years despite extremely low mirgation!

This statistical jump directly strengthened our community's standing with federal, state, and local governments.

💡 Why Completing It Correctly Benefits Everyone
Census data isn't just administrative bookkeeping—it dictates government policy and funding allocation for the next 5 years. Every accurate entry directly unlocks:
