The WA Govt, Roger Cook and I will not stop investing in our local sporting infrastructure and teams.

Only 32% of WA women participate in weekly sport, compared to 52% of men. That’s why we launched Game On, Girls, a grant program aimed at breaking barriers to teenage girls participation in sport and Round 2 is now open!

This year, a further $1.1 million is available through Game On, Girls.

Applications close 16 Nov 2026 so if you’re a local sporting club looking to empower girls, go to

Clubs can apply for grants of up to $5,000 to deliver initiatives that encourage girls to stay active, build confidence and stay connected through community sport.

The first round recipients (already announced) in our area were:

- $4,950 Gosnells Junior Cricket Club
- $3,000 Southern River Little Athletics
- $2,960 Riverton Football Club
- $5,000 Southside BMX Club

- $5,000 Piara Waters Cricket Club
- $2,569 Forrestdale Junior Football Club
- $5,000 Spartans Little Athletics Club

I know taking the family to the movies is getting more expensive, to help with the rising cost of everything, this week I have been doorknocking in Canning Vale with the details of the FREE Outdoor movie "Magic Faraway Tree".

Stephen Pratt MLA and I love being the State Members of Parliament for Canning Vale and we had a great lunch at 1919 Master Lanzhou today at Livingston (one of the best new local Canning Vale noodle places) to talk over the shared instrastructure our community is getting - and what we should be building next as part of the Roger Cook WA Govt.

Extended weekday hours at Canning Vale Police station, two new Canning Vale train stations, upgrades at Canning Vale College and other Canning Vale schools are great but there is always more to do - and we are removing the Palm Trees at the Garden Nicholson Roundabout for the Flyover soon!

We have also delivered on the $1.5 million to upgrade the Starbucks roundabout (cnr Warton / Nicholson) next to Hakea so let us know what you think will help at that intersection as we are designing that now.

I thank our local paper, Examiner Newspapers for their article that residents want and deserve a confirmed build date for the Pool.

If Council will only announce in 2027 more delays – just refund ratepayers now.

The WA Govt and I delivered on our election commitment and Gosnells Council has received a historically high level of infrastructure funding recently (over $21 million) as promised over several projects.

The Council was given a deadline to make progress for the WA Govt contribution – one year from the March 2025 WA election (when all of the available $35 million of funds were confirmed). The Council requested an extension of three months – but now the Council still proposes only more delays so we all must move on.

We will not walk away from the Gosnells and Southern River community, and we will use the WA Govt funds for a new Outdoor Splash Pad next to the Youth Plaza. It was not the first preference, but we need infrastructure now not in 5 or 10 years.

The Council has decided not to build a $35 million Indoor Pool now with the $35 million funds available now and has promised this project for 10 years. If it is not done now with the available $35 million – it will never be done.

We are now being honest with the Community about the future of the project, as the Council will say one thing (they want a pool) but not progress it and we now know $ is not the problem.

We also now know there is no amount that my Liberal opponents on Council will accept for the Indoor Pool, my opponents will just keep saying it's not enough.

I will keep working with Mayor Lynes and the Liberals on Council however I won't trust the Liberals on the Pool again.

Parliament sat late tonight and the Southern River College Graduation started without me, but I got there for the final parts to congratulate the staff, families and students of the Class of 2026 with our Federal MP for Gosnells and Southern River Matt Keogh.

Great to doorknock this morning on my way into Parliament.

I don’t wait until the election to speak with my electorate like my opponents, and if you’ve spoken to me, it was probably when I knocked on your door or phoned you personally.

Doorknocking lets me know that my local families want Infrastructure built now and not 5 or 10 years from now and that the price of fuel and groceries are rising and puts pressure on families.

There is an app to claim the $100 fuel payment but if you haven’t claimed yet , I’m doorknocking out hard copies of the $100 fuel application form.
