Congrats to Mickey, Lisa and The Last Local Canning Vale team for making the 2026 Finals for the Best Steak Sandwich- I confirm "The Crunch" is delicious.

The Last Local pub owner Mickey Phull is backing quality over compromise with his award nominated steak sandwich.

Mr Phull believes his $31 crunch sandwich delivers value for money with a scotch fillet served on toasted sourdough with crispy bacon, crunchy onions, smoky aioli, rocket, tomato, melted cheese and chips.
“We prioritise quality cuts of meat and quality products, and we know we aren’t a necessity. People choose to come and eat at our restaurant, so we want to offer the best we can,” he said

Mr Phull’s restaurant is one of four finalists in the AHAWA-run battle for Perth’s best steak sandwich, with the top four venues participating in a live cook-off on July 1.

It is the NINE YEAR Anniversary of Extended Opening Hours until 7pm on Weekdays at our Canning Vale Police Station.

We delivered on our election commitment to extend the hours of the Canning Vale Police Station in 2017.

We marked the Anniversary with Police Minister Reece Whitby MLA, Colleen Egan - Member for Thornlie, Ron Sao MLA and a Special 9-Year Birthday cake.

Great to doorknock today before the rain sets in.

I love doorknocking my families personally - house by house, and I am finding that most families will receive at least $500 in Cost of Living relief from Roger Cook & the WA Govt as they have at least 2-3 WA Drivers Licenses in the house (and Learner drivers count also) and often at least two kids at school.

The ServiceWA app is the fastest way to apply for the $100 Fuel voucher from 1 July 2026 and the WASAP ($150 for each child K-yr6 & $250 yr7-12) from 20 July 2026 but there will be alternative ways to apply.

KFC Southern River has opened!

At 10am today our new KFC Southern River had a Soft Opening and they are now Frying and serving chicken, chips and more.

Serena Williamson - Deputy Mayor City of Gosnells and I got our Chicken and Chips today.

When you are ready, come on down and support the local business and the Grand Opening will be Sat 13 June 2026.

Thanks to all the local staff and workers and Southern River Square Shopping Centre who made this happen.

FREE Basketballs Tomorrow Fri 29 May 2026 at 4pm

We have 100 FREE Basketballs to give away!
(and $100 Fuel vouchers if you have a WA Drivers License)

My office has finished pumping up the 100 basketballs and they are ready for tomorrow (btw we think we have 120 FREE Basketballs and 40 FREE AFL Footballs to giveaway thanks to Huntingdale IGA).

This Fri 29 May 2026 from 4pm-4:30pm at Huntingdale IGA Oval (Cnr Huntingdale Rd and Pipit Close), join Matt Pham, the IGA and Terry Healy to celebrate the new Infinity Hoop at the park.

You can start lining up at 3:45pm and distribution of the FREE Basketballs will start at 4pm and then a Group Photo at the NEW Infinity Hoop at the Oval, provided by the Huntingdale IGA and the Council!

We ended up giving out 26 FREE Luna Roo books to local families and young readers to celebrate National Simultaneous Storytime yesterday Wed 27 May 2026.

As a former English teacher, it was wonderful to see all 26 recipients and so many of my local Schools, Childcare centres, homes and libraries reading Luna Roo together and celebrating literacy.

Looking forward to making these FREE books available again for NSS in 2027.

The Great Dog Poo Bag Shortage of 2026 will soon be over.

For the past three months I have been proud to assist the City of Gosnells by installing temporary poo bag dispensers at over 40 of the local parks in my electorate. Here is the map of where the dispensers are and where we have been refilling for 3 months when the community have said they need a refill.

WE ARE CLOSE TO THE END OF THE CRISIS!
The Council staff say they have finally recieved a supply of dog poo bags (they did not choose another supplier when their usual supplier ran out last year) and Council will soon begin refilling the dispensers across the City of Gosnells.

Thank you to all those who contacted Council and I about the absence of dog poo bags in our local parks. I also want to thank several of the Elected Members who have been very helpful in advocating for this to be resolved.

Thank you again to Petbarn, a ratepayer within the Council jurisdiction who have beem supplying all the poo bags to my office so we can get them out to parks.

Together, we have avoided Poo-mageddon and ensured our parks are as clean as possible.

Keeping our local parks supplied with poo bags saves the Council money (Council spends less on poo bags, but also our supply means grass doesnt get damaged and have to be replaced and saves us all thousands in park and grass damage from dog poo left behind and this means less pressure on whether rates should rise.

If your park needs poo bags and the Council hasnt yet resupplied, pls email me at [email protected] and to Council the location, and I will go install the poo bag dispenser there until the Council can get them resupplied in the future.
