Launchpad 2027 brought together 200 students from across the Darling Downs to explore the dynamic world of aerospace and advanced manufacturing careers.

Manufacturing Skills Queensland partnered with The Boeing Company, Aviation Australia (Aerospace Gateway to Industry Schools Program), and St Mary's College Toowoomba to deliver this inspiring two-day program that connected young people with real industry opportunities.

From a careers information session to immersive, hands-on workshops, students from eleven regional schools experienced firsthand what it takes to build a career in Queensland's growing manufacturing and aerospace sector.

The enthusiasm and talent we witnessed was incredible. Thank you to Ros Bates MP and Trevor Watts MP for supporting the future workforce, and to every student, parent, and educator who participated. Toowoomba’s manufacturing industry has a bright future ahead!

The Gateway to Industry Schools Program is proudly funded and supported by the Queensland Government.

It was fantastic for the team from Manufacturing Skills Queensland to present at the recent Independent Schools Queensland (ISQ) Career Practitioners Forum in Brisbane, engaging with more than 60 educators in the room and a further 40 online.

The session provided an update on the Manufacturing & Engineering Gateway to Industry Schools Program, along with the growing suite of resources MSQ has developed to support educators in delivering engaging and industry-connected career education.

A standout moment was our Engagement Coordinator for Schools, Karlyn Miskle, leading educators through a mini Career Education activity, encouraging participants to think creatively and explore fresh approaches to student engagement using MSQ resources and industry insights. The energy and collaboration in the room highlighted the important role educators play in helping students discover future-focused pathways in manufacturing and engineering.

Thank you to Melanie Alexandra and ISQ for the opportunity to contribute to such a valuable professional learning event and to all the educators who participated and shared ideas across the two days. Strong partnerships between schools, industry and government continue to be key to supporting informed, inclusive and future-ready pathways for students.
