Childers Graduation Celebration – Be Connected Program 💙

What a fantastic Graduation Event we recently held at the Isis Club, celebrating participants completing the Be Connected Digital Skills Challenge.

Over the program, attendees built confidence and practical skills for everyday life online — from staying safe on the internet, to using digital tools, connecting with others, and accessing services with ease.

A big thank you to Robbie Tedge for facilitating the sessions with such clarity and support, and to dedicated volunteer Desley Cowley for her outstanding work in bringing this program to Childers and supporting participants throughout 💙

Your commitment has made a real difference in helping local seniors build confidence and stay connected in a digital world.

What a fantastic month for our Sunnybank Branch! 🌟

At this month’s meeting, members were delighted to welcome guest speaker Lianne Brkic from Sunrise Rehab, a mobile physiotherapist supporting older adults across Brisbane. Lianne shared practical, easy-to-follow advice to help seniors stay active, mobile and confident as they age. Thank you, Lianne, for such an informative and engaging presentation!

And the fun didn’t stop there! On Tuesday, branch members enjoyed a wonderful bus trip, starting with morning tea at beautiful New Farm Park before heading to the fascinating Queensland Police Museum in Roma Street. Members explored the rich history of policing in Queensland, with exhibits documenting stories and artefacts dating back to 1864.

The Sunnybank Branch is a wonderful way to stay informed, social and connected, with regular meetings, guest speakers and outings throughout the year. New members and guests are always welcome! 😊

🎉Happy 26th Birthday to our Hunter Valley Branch!

Members recently came together to celebrate 26 wonderful years of friendship, connection and community at their May meeting.

The special occasion included a fascinating presentation from Brooke Farr of the Hunter Medical Research Institute, who shared valuable insights into the important work being undertaken to improve health outcomes for Australians.

Of course, no birthday celebration would be complete without plenty of delicious treats! Members enjoyed a lovely spread of cakes, scones and sandwiches while catching up with friends and sharing plenty of laughter and conversation.

The Hunter Valley Branch is known for its welcoming atmosphere and busy calendar of activities, including monthly meetings, guest speakers, walks and BBQs, luncheons, morning teas and special excursions.

Adventure, friendship and a little healthy competition! 🌾🚌

Members of our The Hills Branch in Sydney recently enjoyed a fantastic "Linga Longa in Yarrawonga" tour, travelling by coach through the beautiful Riverina region and visiting some charming country towns along the way.

One of the highlights of the trip was exploring the incredible silo art that has become a feature of regional Australia, showcasing local stories and creativity on a grand scale.

The fun continued with a lively Trivia Night, featuring questions based on the sights and experiences from the tour. Three teams of six battled it out for bragging rights, with the aptly named "Let's Get Quizzical" team taking home the win! 🏅🎉 Their prize? A coveted gold medal from The Reject Shop!

Trips like these are a wonderful reminder of what National Seniors branches do best: bringing people together to explore new places, make memories and enjoy great company.

🎨🧵 Community, creativity and a worthy cause

National Seniors Australia's Hawkesbury Branch was proud to host The Apron Project Exhibition at Windsor Library, raising funds and awareness for children and families impacted by domestic and family violence.

The colourful exhibition featured more than 400 beautifully crafted aprons created by Australian and international artists and marked the final stop of a roadshow that travelled more than 3,000 kilometres across New South Wales.

Guests heard from The Apron Project founder Sallianne McClelland and Hawkesbury Mayor Cr Les Sheather, who spoke about the importance of raising awareness and supporting those affected by domestic and family violence.

💜 All proceeds from the exhibition's $5 entry fee were donated to support this important cause, reflecting the Hawkesbury Branch's ongoing commitment to giving back to the local community.

A huge thank you to everyone who attended, volunteered and helped make the exhibition such a success. Together, we can help raise awareness, support prevention efforts and make a positive difference in the lives of women and children experiencing domestic and family violence.

The Hawkesbury Branch welcomes new members and guests who would like to connect, make friends and become involved in community activities.

Celebrating 30 wonderful years of the Gladstone Branch! 💙

National Seniors Australia CEO Chris Grice was honoured to visit the Gladstone Branch recently to help celebrate an incredible milestone, the branch’s 30th birthday 🥳

As the largest National Seniors Australia branch in the country, the Gladstone Branch has built a remarkable community of connection, friendship and support for older Australians over three decades.

The celebration included a special recognition of our long-standing members, with 25-year membership pins proudly presented to dedicated members who have been part of the branch journey for so many years.

And of course, no birthday celebration would be complete without cake! Chris also had the pleasure of helping cut the anniversary cake alongside members and volunteers who make the branch such a welcoming and vibrant community.

A huge congratulations and thank you to everyone involved in making the Gladstone Branch such a success over the past 30 years.
