If you’re planning a trip up to Springbrook over the next week please take Nerang-Murwillumbah Rd/Pine Creek Rd route👇
Update 8.30pm Monday 19th
Just spoke to the Road Crew at the top of the front road. The Gold Coast Springbrook Road is CLOSED, both ways, for the next few days. No stop go. No one way. Closed. The sign at Pollys is being fixed to reflect this.
The informal info he gave was to prepare ourselves to use the back road until at least Friday...and possibly longer. It's a pretty bad slip in a tricky place and it's not going to be quickly fixed.
Update 6.45pm
The latest info direct from TMR is that a Landslip investigation is underway on the Gold Coast Springbrook Rd near the water trough one way.
The road is closed from Pine Creek to the bottom from 7.30pm tonight while they conduct investigations.
Then confusingly, we were told that the road is closed to down hill traffic only and uphill traffic is on stop/go, but with "significant" delays.
From anecdotal accounts, it looks like a bad slip that will take a while to fix, maybe a week, maybe longer, so our advice is to plan to use the Back Road / Pine Creek Rd to get up and down the hill while we are unsure what's happening.
Sorry our investigations weren't as conclusive as we had hoped but it feels like no one at TMR is completely sure and no one wants to make the call and be wrong.
Use the Back Road / Pine Creek and save yourself the greif and angst of an unknown length of wait.
Stay safe. Keep the speed down. Watch out for others on the back road.
