The school boasts an amazing outlook, architecturally designed buildings, state of the art technology, a fully integrated wireless network and 100% connectivity. Our school has access to very high speed broadband, unprecedented within the Department of Education and Training. Due to our proximity to the Queensland Government’s data centre ‘Polaris’, we are directly connected with a very high speed
fibre optic link to the data centre. This enables us to explore the teaching and learning benefits offered via the internet, along with improved access to the latest digital learning content delivered by our eLearning environment - The Learning Place. Stage B of construction is currently underway and planned for completion for the beginning of the 2013 school year. This stage expands to a further 2 prep rooms, an additional 6 general teaching spaces with access to a mini computer pod and a practical learning area, an instrumental practice space and office, a music teaching space and a purpose-built and designed robotics lab. We feel very fortunate to have access to a full size hall with a permanent stage and half court. As enrolments move beyond 600, Stage C of construction will begin. The school is expected to peak at an enrolment of 1050 and then plateau at approximately 850. The school has been very conscious of ensuring that everything we do is sustainable in the short term and as much as when we reach peak enrolment predictions. Our students and staff are challenged to, both personally and collectively, 'Raise the Bar'. This motto is incorporated into our school logo as a part of an extractable brand. The brand consists of our school abbreviation ‘SC’ above a bar representing the motto and a dot which represents our commitment to maintaining a state of the art digital and technological status. Our brand is embossed on a shield of school colours. The shield denotes our belief that we are all stakeholders in protecting, guiding and ensuring quality education and achievement for all of our students. Our signature programs of Thinking and Technology are symbolised by the TT. We are proud to identify as a Technology and Thinking school. These signature programs will enhance our ability to cater for the learning needs of our 21st century, generation Z student learners. In 2011 we opened with a Prep to Year 7 enrolment of 103. This number grew to 186 on day 8 this year. From the onset our driving focus was the establishment of the Springfield Central Way, incorporating: traditions, artefacts, policies & procedures, unwritten rules and culture in its many forms. We are very proud of the reputation we have established in such a short timeframe and commit to sustaining it. This reputation is underpinned by the elements of our vision and the dedication and professionalism of our amazing staff, students and community, and as one entity we are motivated by high expectations. Our consistent and concise Responsible Behaviour Plan is designed to facilitate high standards of behaviour so that Staff Can TEACH and Students Can LEARN. We endeavour to foster a confidence in all students that allows them to actively think, to understand their own rights and responsibilities and to respect those of others, to be enthusiastic and positive about learning, to accept responsibility for their choices and to self-manage their own behaviour. There has been and will continue to be a very strong focus on building partnerships within our school and between our school and our community. We have a unique opportunity having the newly opened Springfield Central State High within walking distance. In 2011, all but one of our Year 7 graduates enrolled at the high school and this year 100% of our Year 6 and 7 students have enrolled at SCSHS. Together we are participating in the Year 7 to High School pilot. As at 2013 we will only offer enrolments from Prep to Year 6.
