NATIONAL VOLUNTEER WEEK | Last week, we celebrated Volunteering Australia National Volunteer Week and recognised the amazing volunteers who help make such a supportive and connected school community. Whether it’s helping at school events, supporting our P&C, lending a hand behind the scenes, our volunteers make a meaningful difference every single day. 2026 is Your Year to Volunteer!💙

Joining the Springfield Lakes State School P&C Association is a wonderful way to volunteer, contribute your ideas and support the incredible work our P&C does for SLSS. It’s also a great opportunity to meet new people within our school community while helping organise fundraising activities and events throughout the year, including Mother’s Day and Father’s Day stalls, working bees, colour run, movie nights and more.

Thanks to the support of our volunteers and families, the P&C has recently achieved a number of initiatives, including gala sports uniforms, updated school signage, cold-water bubbler, the refurbishment of first aid facilities, funding of the Sora eBook platform, and new music equipment.

COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS | This week, we were pleased to welcome State Member for Jordan, Charis Mullen MP to Springfield Lakes SS. During her visit, Charis toured our campus, met with Principal Mr Marsh to discuss the many exciting initiatives and activities taking place across our school, and connected with members of our school community.

We sincerely thank Charis for taking the time to visit our school and for her continued support of the Springfield Lakes SS community.

NATIONAL SIMULTANEOUS STORYTIME | Yesterday, our students from 6F and 1E came together in the library to celebrate National Simultaneous Storytime! Students joined thousands of children across Australia to enjoy the live reading of Luna Roo: The Kangaroo Baller by Adam Jackson and Adrian Lloyd. 🦘📚✨

A highlight of the session was watching illustrator Jake Minton bring Luna Roo to life through a live drawing demonstration.

It was wonderful to see our senior and junior students come together to celebrate storytelling, imagination and the joy of reading! Australian Library and Information Association.💙

NATIONAL SORRY DAY | Today, our Springfield Lakes SS community acknowledges National Sorry Day - a time to reflect on the pain and injustice experienced by the Stolen Generations.

We recognise the strength, resilience and courage of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and honour the survivors, their families and communities.

As a school community, we are committed to listening, learning and walking together with respect, understanding and reconciliation. 💙
