Lynwood Park Rural Fire Brigade and Appin Rural Fire Brigade along with Police, Ambulance and RMS Traffic Control attended a Motor Vehicle Incident on Appin Rd at Gilead.

A truck heading north bound had spilled clay material over around 75 metres on the road. A motorcycle travelling directly behind was forced off the road, the rider was injured.

RFS members assisted with the rider, and then washed the clay material from the road.

Lynwood Park Rural Fire Brigade and NSW RFS - Georges River Brigade were called to a skip bin fire in the bush area near Airds. Fire and Rescue NSW Station 088 Campbelltown initially attended the call and assisted RFS in locating the fire.

The skip bin was found to have numerous tyres set alight. The fire was extinguished with an operator using breathing apparatus applying foam.

Whilst working the skip bin fire, a second fire was noticed around 300 metres away, in the bush area. This fire consisted of car parts and rubbish. This fire was also extinguished by RFS members.

Lynwood Park Rural Fire Brigade was dispatched to a structure fire at Menangle.

Firefighters from the and Fire and Rescue NSW have worked throughout the morning to extinguish a fire burning in a General store and residential building on Station Street at Menangle (Wollondilly LGA).

It took more than 15 fire trucks to bring the fire under control. Local road closures remain in place while emergency services remain on scene.

There are no reports of injuries from the scene. The cause of the fire is not yet known with fire investigators to attend the scene throughout the day.

NOTICE OF PROPOSED HAZARD REDUCTION
Please be advised that crews from NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service are intending to undertake Hazard Reduction (HR) burning, weather permitting, at the following location this week.

Location: Blackburn Road Wedderburn. Near
Day: Tuesday 12 May 2026

This hazard reduction burn is approximately 38ha in size.

As the prescribed burn will generate smoke, hot embers and heat, it is important that you consider the following:
• Keep doors and windows closed to prevent smoke entering homes;
• Keep outdoor furniture under cover to prevent ember burns;
• Retract pool covers to prevent ember damage;
• Remove washing from clotheslines;
• Ensure pets have a protected area;
• If you are driving a vehicle, slow down, keep windows up and turn headlights on; and
• If you have asthma or a lung condition, reduce outdoor activities. If smoke levels are high and if shortness of breath or coughing develops, take your reliever medicine or seek medical advice
