The ABC Radio National Top 100 Books list for 2026 is out.

So, naturally, we dropped everything and checked our shelves.

The verdict?

βœ… We have them all.

That's right, every book on the list is available to borrow or reserve through Port Phillip Libraries.

We've even saved you the trouble of tracking them down by creating a reading list with all 100 titles in one place. Visit our website to explore the list and put them on reserve.

Now the only difficult question is: which one will you read first?

We ordered a reading list.

Somehow we ended up with half the staff turning into Dua Lipa.

If you've ever wondered what Dua's reading, we've rounded up her Service95 Book Club recommendations into one handy reading list on our website.

Check them out here: https://library.portphillip.vic.gov.au/whats-on/our-recommended-reading

Many Australians know the iconic image from the 1968 Mexico City Olympics. While American athletes Tommie Smith and John Carlos raised their fists in support of human rights and racial equality, standing beside them was Australian silver medallist Peter Norman.

Before stepping onto the podium, Norman was told of their plans and chose to stand in solidarity, wearing an Olympic Project for Human Rights badge alongside his fellow athletes.

His act of support came at a personal cost, but it became a defining moment in Australian sporting and human rights history.

Closer to home, Peter Norman's legacy lives on through the statue at Lakeside Stadium in Albert Park.

At the Port Phillip Heritage Centre, we're passionate about preserving and sharing local stories that help us better understand our community, its people and the moments that have shaped it.

This Peter Norman Day, we remember not only an extraordinary athlete, but a local figure whose courage, integrity and commitment to equality continue to inspire.

Some of the world's most celebrated books have also been some of the most challenged.

For Banned Books Week, we've created a display at St Kilda Library featuring books that have been banned, challenged or restricted at different times and in different places. You might be surprised by some of the titles on the shelf. Drop in, explore the display, and discover why access to diverse stories and ideas matters.

We've also put together a list of banned or challenged books available to borrow from our collection. Explore the list via the front page of our website.

Which banned book has stayed with you long after reading it?
