We’re monitoring the flooding situation in Gatton. Our thoughts go out to the people involved in the four or so crashes on the Warrego, and any nonhuman animals affected on the farmlands comprising and surrounding the UQ Gatton campus.

When it comes to vets, we’re conflicted. The industry is far from perfect, but some aspects are vital for nonhumans’ wellbeing.

The outcry at what’s happening in Dayboro, though, is indicative of another problem - too often does UQ fail to enact a meaningful consultation program on issues such as this.

Saw a little bird struggling beside the road this morning so I gave him my shirt and took him to the vet, hope he pulls through, always have to look after our native wildlife ❤️🙏🏼

UQ Life still hasn’t issued an apology. P&F say it’ll be weeks until warnings signs are erected.

Only the UQ Union care about , and would erect signage t’row (if P&F would allow).

Shame on UQ's P&F for its inaction and bureaucratic nonsense. Our duck and plover families don't have weeks to wait around for signage - they're being endangered by motorists right now!

Sources within UQ Life have revealed to us that shortly before BLOOM was set to commence, its location was changed. This was because UQ intended to drain the lakes for maintenance (they’re man-made). Whether a wildlife assessment was carried out for the new location remains unclear.

The Courier Mail’s reporting journalist labelled our thousands-strong outcry as “bizarre”.

Ultimately, it is.

But that hasn’t stopped us yet, and it never will.
