There are more ways to support wildlife rehabilitation than most people realize—and not all of them involve hands-on animal care. Here’s a clear breakdown of how you can genuinely make a difference:
🐾 Volunteer your time
Wildlife rescues always need reliable people. This can include:
• Animal care (feeding, cleaning enclosures, observing behavior)
• Transporting injured wildlife to vets and from vets , releasing animals .
• Admin, social media, or fundraising help
🚗 Become a wildlife transporter
If you have a car, you can help move injured animals between:
• Rescue sites
• Veterinary clinics
• Rehabilitation carers
This role is flexible and hugely valuable
💰 Donate or fundraise
Rehabilitation is expensive. Donations help cover:
• Food and formula
• Medical treatment
• Enclosure maintenance
Even small, regular contributions help keep rescues running.
🧽 Donate supplies
Rescues constantly need everyday items like:
• linen, newspaper,puppy pads
• Cleaning supplies
• Fresh produce (depending on species)
This is one of the easiest ways to help immediately.
📢 Spread awareness
You can amplify impact by:
• Sharing rescue posts on social media
• Educating others about wildlife safety (e.g. what to do if you find an injured animal)
• Promoting responsible pet ownership
🌱 Make your environment wildlife-friendly
At home, you can:
• Plant native vegetation
• Provide water sources
• Avoid pesticides and rodenticides
This reduces the number of animals needing rescue in the first place.
