NDIS Updates- Changes from 1 July 2026
We want to share a quick summary of upcoming changes to the NDIS that will come into effect from 1 July 2026. The scale of reforms that was announced by Minister Mark Butler on 22 April represents the most significant restructure of the NDIS since the Schemeās inception.
Whatās changing?
The government is introducing updates to how NDIS funding is managed and how supports are delivered. The aim is to make the scheme more consistent, financially sustainable, and focused on participant outcomes.
Key points to understand:
š¢ Tighter funding rules: There will be clearer guidelines around what supports can and cannot be funded. Eligibility criteria and assessments to be reviewed.
šµ Plan budgets: Funding may be more structured, with stricter categories and less flexibility to move funds between them.
š¢ Registration and oversight: There is a move towards increased regulation across the sector. This may include requirements for some currently unregistered providers and sole traders to become registered, along with stronger accountability measures.
šµ Service delivery expectations: Providers may need to follow updated processes and reporting requirements.
š¢ Focus on value and outcomes: There is a stronger emphasis on ensuring supports are reasonable, necessary, and delivering real benefits to participants.
We want to reassure our participants and their carers that GBSS is a registered NDIS provider. While the scheme evolves, our priority remains unchanged - delivering safe, high-quality supports that put your goals first. We are dedicated to maintaining full compliance with the latest NDIS Commission requirements so that you can continue to access your supports with absolute confidence.
