SES Stawell Unit

SES Stawell Unit Victoria State Emergency Service - Stawell Unit has been operating in the Stawell Who are we? and what do we do?

The Victoria State Emergency Service (VICSES) is the control agency for flood, storm, tsunami and earthquake in Victoria, managing responses to these emergencies and helping communities to prepare through planning and education. As well as operating the largest road rescue network in Australia, we also assist the Victoria Police in search and rescue operations and play an important support role during major bushfire responses.

Over the weekend we celebrated something truly extraordinary — over 400 years of combined volunteer service for the Wimmera region 🎉

From responding to floods 🌧️, storms 🌪️, and road accidents, to supporting our partner agencies when our community needs it most, our volunteers show up with courage, compassion, and unwavering commitment.

The awards ceremony honoured the people who give their time, skills, and heart to keep others safe. Their dedication doesn’t just strengthen our organisation — it strengthens our entire community.

A huge congratulations to all award recipients 🏆 and a heartfelt thank you to every volunteer who continues to make a real difference.

☔️ All that rain and wind had our crews out of bed early this morning as we attended several tree-down traffic hazards across our response zone.🌳

🙏 A huge thank you to SES Stawell Unit and Victoria Police for their help clearing the trees and managing morning traffic. It made the job much quicker and safer. 👍

We’ve been out to the Pinnacle this afternoon with SES Ararat Unit, after being called to assist Ambulance Victoria and Victoria Police with an injured hiker. Luckily HEMS was able to winch our patient, it was starting to get dark and would’ve been a slow carry-out back to the vehicles

We were called out to the Grampians twice this weekend to assist our neighbouring units SES Stawell Unit and Dunkeld Unit.

It’s a good reminder to everyone enjoying our stunning mountain ranges to take care up there, especially after rain, and to make sure you have a way to contact 000 in an emergency.

We’ll always be there to help when you call - but we’re sure you’d rather not need us. Stay safe!
