POSTPONED Emily's Open Garden 2022 🔕

Unfortunately, an exceptionally wet Spring has caused the late flowering of roses and less-than-ideal conditions for outdoor activities. 🌧

Our goal is to provide an unforgettable experience for all guests and we believe that given the current weather conditions, this might not be possible. 🌷

Therefore, we will be looking to move the date of the event to March 2023, when conditions will be more enjoyable. ☀️

We thank you for your understanding, please keep an eye on future posts confirming a final date. 🗓

What Makes Emily's Garden So Unique? ✨

Emily grew up on a remote idyllic tropical island in the Maluku Province of eastern Indonesia, where gardening was a natural part of life and everyone tended to their own vegetable gardens and plantations. 🏝🇮🇩

When Emily moved to South Australia in 1989 with her husband Chris, she continued her interest in gardening, but with the added challenge of a completely different set of non-tropical plants to learn about. ☀️🇦🇺

Fast forward to the present day and Emily's Garden features a truly diverse range of flowering plants and trees that thrive within the Adelaide Hills' unique mild and wet microclimate. 🌸🌲

The history of Emily's Open Garden 🌸

Three very brave and dedicated women. Emily, Esther Scarborough and Mavis Pardede’s came together to help refugees and children orphaned in eastern Indonesia in the Early 2000s. 🇮🇩❤️

Emily’s situation was personal as her family are from the area 🙏🏻✨

Esther and her husband Peter established Hohidiai, which is a FREE medical clinic and hospital devoted to helping people physically and emotionally, especially the poor and marginalised. 🏥😷

Mavis founded the Bukit Karmel orphanage, where more than 40 children are currently being cared for day and night, while also providing refuge for single mothers. 👨‍👩‍👧 🛌
