Yesterday, the Stoneville crew joined forces with our mates at Mundaring Volunteer Fire & Rescue Service and Sawyers Valley Volunteer Bushfire Brigade Inc. for some valuable combined training.

The focus of the day was learning how we can best support Mundaring Volunteer Fire & Rescue Service at a structure fire, working together to ensure we can provide the right resources when they’re needed most.

Water supply is crucial at any fire, and Stoneville’s new 4.4B tanker, with its 4,000-litre water capacity, will be a great asset when supporting structure fire operations.

A big thanks to everyone involved for a great day of training, teamwork and sharing knowledge. 🚒🔥🤝

This is a great example of how a controlled burn can benefit the habitat and lessen the impact of fires in our bush, a great video from 2023 after a fire started by lightning strikes had moved through an area of the hills, the link is below👇👇👇

Remember a fire is Fuel+Heat+Oxygen, the best way to put it out, is take one away, in situations like this a fire blanket would have worked quickly at starving the fire of Oxygen, NEVER EVER use water on an oil fire, best to keep a fire blanket mounted on the back of the pantry door or on the inside of a kitchen cupboard near the oven/stove top, you simply pull the tabs and it unfolds as you pull it out, then throw it over the pot and stove top, be sure to teach your kids where the blanket is and the reason why they should use it, videos like this are a great way of showing what not to do in the event of a stovetop fire, stay safe everyone❤️

A huge thanks to our friends at Community Bank Mundaring, thanks to their generous grant, we have been able to purchase some all important equipment, to assist us in fighting fires and protecting our community, they have been long time supporters of many brigades in the Shire of Mundaring and we honestly couldn't thank them enough for their support over the years❤️

Do you and your family have an escape plan? In the event the unthinkable happens you won't have time to work one out, why not sit down today and have a discussion, start by checking those smoke detectors, they can add valuable minutes and at a when every minute matters, they could be the difference between making it out safely or the unthinkable happening
