Strathallan Rochester Family Landcare

Strathallan Rochester Family Landcare Strathallan Family Landcare is a volunteer organisation that meets on a bi-monthly basis. The group looks at environmental issues in the local area.

A small group of local families began to look at the possibility of starting a Landcare group in 2010. We became an official Start-up group in 2011 thanks to support from NCCMA and the Shire of Campaspe. We have hosted guest speakers on everything from frogs, birds, weeds, and now have 3 major annual events. A Star Gazing night on Earthhour night in March, tree plantings on National Tree Day in Ju

ly and a Carp Catch in late October. We also have 12 local families hosting nesting boxes for Squirrel Gliders. We are also looking for new projects. Watch this space!

Easter hols' set to start!
Students from Echuca Special School finished their semester visits to Strathallan Glider Sanctuary with a Watch Watch demonstration by the Campaspe River. It has been a pleasure watching them learn about providing leaves and branches and preparing glider food, cage management and nest box building and painting.
Some of our happy group are pictured here cheering as Easter and school holidays approach.

Schoolies back!
This week, students from Echuca Special School had a liesurely walk to the Campaspe River where we are going to do a Water Watch in a few weeks. Then it was back to the Strathallan Glider Sanctuary where students began to.use their artistic skills on some nesting boxes.
The boxes when finished will be installed along the Campaspe River to provide habitat for the three local gliders, Squirrel, Sugar and Feathertails.

💚 Happy International Women's Day 💚

This month we've been celebrating the incredible women who make CVA's conservation work possible, and today, on International Women's Day, we want to say a simple but heartfelt thank you.

To our Project Officers out in the field, our coordinators, our volunteers, and every woman who has ever shown up for nature: you are the backbone of what we do.

Your passion, your dedication, and your quiet determination to make a difference inspire everyone around you, every single day. Thank you!

Meet the clean-up crew
A small but determined group of volunteers showed up on this morning at Strathallan Campase River Highway rest park for Clean -Up Australia day. They picked up a trailer load of rubbish including 6 heavy truck tyres and a large fish tank. Carefully drove it to the Rochester Tip and were back home having a coffee by 11am.
Not a bad effort. And they were doing it for Nature and the Planet!

There's Gladdie!
Right in the thick of things in the pavilion at the Annual Great Northern Show. Cattle, horses, goats, poultry, sheep dog trials, and a host of gazebos of information and tucker outside. A terrific show once again, congratulations to organising committee, a job very well done.
