With the FIFA World Cup kicking off, our littlest learners at Woy Woy Public School's Guliyali Preschool got into the spirit early, channelling their inner Matildas and Socceroos for National Simultaneous Storytime and joining millions of kids across the country reading the very same book at the very same moment.

This year's story, Luna Roo the Kangaroo Baller, was all about confidence, perseverance, and never giving up. The perfect message for our future soccer stars. 🌟

The big kids from the school's soccer team came along to listen, then everyone headed out to the preschool's new mini field for a game, "just like Luna Roo and her friends".

Moments like these are what make a preschool on a school site so special. Long before kindergarten.

Road safety starts early🚦🚸🚗🚲

As part of Road Safety Week, preschool children at Boggabilla Central School welcomed local police officers for a hands-on learning experience about staying safe on and around roads.

From practising safe bike riding habits to learning about seatbelts and car safety, the children had plenty of opportunities to build important road safety skills.

The children proudly showed the police our preschool bikes and demonstrated how we wear our helmets safely before riding. They also enjoyed exploring a police vehicle, learning about police equipment and trying on some police gear.

A big thank you to the local police officers for their visit, and to Preschool Teacher Mel Frost for helping bring this fantastic learning opportunity to life for the children.

The NSW Early Learning Commission child safety campaign ‘Your voice. Their safety’ empowers parents and carers to recognise child safe practices in early learning settings and encourage speaking up if something feels wrong.

Services can help by discussing child safety with families and sharing your service’s compliance history when requested. You must also report any concerns or inappropriate actions to provide safe, welcoming places for children to learn, grow and thrive.
