This Mammillaria clump is about 60 years old now. It’s quite a slow grower but once you get a nice big clump and you see it flower with the beautiful ring of pink flowers you’ll understand why so many collect it! 😊🌵

For those of you signed up to our email newsletter you were the first to see the new branding we’ve been working on over winter.

This whole project honestly started as a fun logo redesign, and once we did that we quickly realised that to do that on its own wouldn’t do it justice.

Before it all goes live we would love to hear from you. What do you think of our new brand colours, logo and fonts? 😊🌵

It’s pretty incredible that this agave stores energy for 10-15 years just so it can produce a massive flower stalk.

Nature is wild! If you’re wanting to harvest the agave to make something like tequila, you wait for the stalk to start shooting and then chop it off before it can take off.

What that does is forces the energy that would have gone into the flower into expanding the body of the plant which you can then harvest and process.

Beyond that I think it’s so interesting how well the local wildlife has adapted to plants that aren’t native to Australia.

This giant fire barrel is one of my favourites and it catches most peoples eye as they enter the gardens with its bright red spines.

At around 70 years of age this is getting close to its full height but it’s still got some growing to do!

Does anyone else have a big giant like this in their backyard?
