From the week commencing 26 July 2021 (weather permitting), northbound motorists accessing Palmview, Glenview and the Aussie World precinct will be able to bypass the Caloundra Road interchange and travel underneath the new bridges to link directly from Exit 188 to Frizzo Connection Road via a new signalised intersection.

This will be the new primary northbound route to Frizzo Connection Road, however motorists can still travel via the Caloundra Road interchange, through the traffic signals at Steve Irwin Way and on to Frizzo Connection Road.

Good news.

Yaayyy we have had official word the underpass will be open Friday morning. Won’t look like the picture just yet but it is what the project is working towards. As at the morning of Friday the 18th September you will be able to access Aussie World Garage once again heading south and you will also be able to head south with ease once you have visited us.

Frizzo Road northbound single lane closure at Palmview Forest Estate
A northbound single lane closure will be in place on Frizzo Road at Palmview Forest Estate from Sunday 24 to Wednesday 27 May 2020, during the day and night, weather permitting. This traffic change is required for emergency pavement repair works and will include traffic signals and heavy machinery and equipment. Nearby residents should expect an increase in construction noise.

Caloundra Road interchange – eastbound and westbound lanes
Due to wet weather, the eastbound and westbound lane closures across the Caloundra Road interchange have been postponed to Tuesday 26 and Wednesday 27 May 2020, from 8pm to 5am, weather permitting. Eastbound motorists will be detoured via Steve Irwin Way, the highway northbound, Exit 190 and Pignata Road. Westbound motorists will be detoured via the Roys Road interchange.

The closures will be in place to prepare for the opening of a new two-lane section of Caloundra Road eastbound at the traffic signals on the eastern side of the interchange.

Sunshine Motorway closure under Bruce Highway bridge
The Sunshine Motorway eastbound and westbound lanes under the Bruce Highway bridge will be closed on Monday 20 and Thursday 23 April 2020, from 8pm to 5am, weather permitting.

A detour route will be available for eastbound traffic via Mons Road interchange. Note, the exit ramp (Exit 194) from the Bruce Highway northbound will remain open for local access to Cunning, Wilson and Sippy Creek roads.

A detour route will be available for westbound traffic via Pignata Road (Exit 190), Frizzo Road and the Bruce Highway northbound to Exit 194.

Westbound Sunshine Motorway exit ramp to Sippy Downs
The westbound Sunshine Motorway exit ramp to Sippy Downs will be closed on Wednesday 22 April 2020, 8pm to 5am, weather permitting. A detour route is available via the Bruce Highway northbound and Mons Road interchange.

Road temporarily closed under Bruce Highway in Palmview

On Sunday 15 and Monday 16 March 2020 (weather and construction conditions permitting), the road connecting Frizzo Road and Pignata Road under the Bruce Highway in Palmview, will be temporarily closed at night between 7pm and 5am.

The nightly closures will allow for demolition works to be carried out on the old northbound Bruce Highway carriageway.

What to expect
Traffic detours:
• Traffic travelling from Frizzo Road to Pignata Road (eastbound) will be detoured via the Bruce Highway northbound, Exit 194 to the Sunshine Motorway, the Sippy Downs interchange, Sunshine Motorway westbound and Bruce Highway southbound to Exit 190 in Palmview.
• Traffic travelling from Pignata Road to Frizzo Road (westbound) will be detoured via the Bruce Highway southbound, Exit 188B to Steve Irwin Way, the highway northbound entry ramp and Exit 190 in Palmview.

• Traffic controllers and police will be present to assist motorists if required. Motorists are advised to follow directional signage and allow extra travel time.
• Where possible, priority access through the work zone will be given to emergency vehicles.
Audible noise:
• Nearby residents can expect to hear noise during bridge demolition works. Heavy machinery and tools including rock breakers are required to be used to complete the works.
Temporary lighting:
• Generator powered lighting towers will be used to light work areas at night.

Working hours
Night works will be required to complete these activities.

The project’s working hours are:
• Night works: Sunday to Thursday, 7pm to 5am
• Day works: Monday to Saturday, 6am to 6pm.
It is important to note that these works are dependent on weather conditions.

Weekend closure of Frizzo Road between Aussie World and Martin Road.

Frizzo Road between the southern access to Aussie World and Martin Road in Palmview will be closed over a weekend to allow for drainage works to be carried out.

The road closure will be in place from 4am Saturday 7 March to 5am Monday 9 March 2020, weather permitting.

Traffic controllers will be present to assist motorists if required. Motorists are advised to follow directional signage and allow extra travel time.

What to expect
Southbound Bruce Highway access from Martin Road:
• A diversion route is available via the Bruce Highway northbound, Exit 194 to the Sunshine Motorway and the Sippy Downs interchange.
• Southbound motorists wishing to access the highway from Martin Road may also choose alternative routes via the local road network.
Northbound Bruce Highway access from Martin Road:
• Northbound access to the Bruce Highway from Martin Road will remain unchanged.
Southbound Bruce Highway access from Aussie World:
• Southbound access to the Bruce Highway from Aussie World will remain unchanged.

Northbound Bruce Highway access from Aussie World:
• A diversion route is available via Pignata Road, the Bruce Highway southbound, Exit 188B, Steve Irwin Way and the highway northbound.
• Northbound motorists wishing to access the highway from Aussie World may also choose alternative routes via the local road network.
Audible noise:
• Nearby residents should expect audible noise from construction machinery. Reversing beepers and flashing lights are a safety requirement and will be used at all times during day and night working hours.
Temporary lighting:
• Generator powered lighting towers will be used to light work areas at night.
Working hours
A combination of day and night works will be required to complete these activities.

From Friday 31 January 2020 (weather permitting), a one way traffic arrangement will be in place on Frizzo Road between the Aussie World southern access and Martin Road in Palmview.

The southbound lane along this section of Frizzo Road will be closed for approximately six months (weather and construction conditions permitting) to allow for construction of the new western service road. The northbound lane will remain open.
