Trayon / Overlander-hire family adventure day 23:
Australia Adventure Day 23! 🚙🇦🇺🌊

Started with breakfast on Rainbow Beach, then drove straight to K'gari (Fraser Island). The ferry between Rainbow Beach and K'gari was tiny and original — loved the short ride, even though we had to pay again after booking the wrong one by accident 😅

Once on the island, the beach road was so wide and straight, running right along beautiful waves. Speed limit on the beach? 80km/h — that's fast! 🌊💨

We stopped at Eli Creek — crystal clear water, gorgeous plants, and people floating down on swimming rings. Such a smart and fun experience! And right before we left, we spotted our first dingo walking on the beach. Everyone was so excited, but the dingo looked pretty cool and calm. They're getting more used to humans now.

It's low season, so many places were empty — including our booked campsite. Felt a bit boring and unsafe being completely alone among trees and bushes, knowing dingoes could be anywhere. So we moved to a private campsite with better facilities and protection. Definitely the right call — felt safe and nice in the end! 🏕️✨

Said a tough goodbye to James & Dom’s fam — that one hurt 💔 Then packed up, hopped on the ferry, and kept rolling!

Cruised through Brisbane on the way, then spent most of the day at Australia Zoo. The bird free-flight show and croc feeding were unreal. Honestly, the whole vibe of this zoo is like nothing we’ve ever seen before 🐊🦜

Ended the night at a random hot stone steak spot on the road to Rainbow Beach. Dinner was solid — though we had about a thousand birds yelling at us from the tree in front of the restaurant 😂🌳🦅🐧

Cylinder Beach is absolutely incredible — the water is that perfect greenish-blue and crystal clear. We were having the best time until Iris got a bluebottle sting at the end 😅

Then we went on a beach driving adventure at Flinders Beach with James and Dom’s family. The sand was super soft and bumpy — but we didn’t get stuck even once! 🙌 A big applause to our excellent drivers!👏🏻

What a great first Australia Day experience!🇦🇺✨

Australia Adventure Day 20! 🚙🌲🌊🇦🇺

Nothing beats off-road overlanding with friends—through the woods, along the beaches… and honestly? Kinda disappointed we didn’t get stuck even once 😏

Ended the day with a wild dolphin show right before bed—felt like the ocean’s little gift just for us ✨

We went camping with Dom and James family on North Stradbroke Island — always love having camp buddies. Such a great way to spend time together!

The island is absolutely beautiful — soft sandy beaches, shallow and crystal clear water. So much fun swimming and paddling! 🌊☀️

: Australia Adventure Days 17 & 18! 🏕️🇦🇺🚘

Started with a 2.5-hour splash session at the super kid-friendly pool in Tallebudgera Creek Tourist Park. Then headed into Gold Coast city for a little explore — and hopped on the Aquaduck! So cool watching a vehicle turn from bus into boat 🚌➡️🚤🦆

Best part? Finally reunited with our friend Dom after SIX YEARS! Camped in their backyard and spent two days hanging out with her and her family. Iris and Isa finally got a proper playdate with Dom’s kids too 🧡✨

Tackled the Offroad Condamine Gorge — 14 river crossings that weren't too challenging but were an absolute blast. Until we crashed our drone into a tree during the second crossing 😅 Took us ages to find it but luckily we did!

After the gorge, we continued through Carneys Creek Road toward the Gold Coast. So many cows just hanging out on and along the road — such a fun Aussie experience! 🐄✨

SUP time with Iris and Isa — both paddling all on their own like pros. Highlight of the day: paddling right over the back of a massive ray together with Iris 😱🌊🐜

After lunch, we headed inland. The landscape shifted — greener, rolling hills, totally different vibe.

Then came the real adventure: off-roading through the jungle in Border Ranges National Park 🌿🚙 Dodging falling branches, cows, and dogs running wild on the road. Road closure meant we couldn't make it to our booked campsite — but we found another one nearby, totally empty, just us. Normally it holds 120+ campers a day. Felt like our own massive backyard 🌌🏕️

: Australia Adventure – Day 14 🇦🇺🚗🏕️

After breakfast we went for a long walk through the rainy forest around our campsite, hoping to spot some koalas… but they were clearly feeling shy and didn’t come out to say hello 🐨🌧️

The weather finally cleared, so we stopped for a swim at the beautiful Racecourse Head beach in Crescent Head. While changing on the beach we suddenly realized Jonas was bleeding from his lower leg… and then I discovered I was bleeding on my butt too — leech bites! Absolutely disgusting 🤢

Later we arrived in Coffs Harbour, one of Australia’s classic holiday destinations. We camped at a beautiful spot near Moonee Beach recommended by a good friend and tested our new inflatable paddle board — which was awesome! Can’t wait for more beach fun tomorrow 🌊☀️

: Australia Adventure – Day 13 🇦🇺🚗🏕️

We woke up early to surprise Jonas with candle, cake, and gifts — celebrating his 43rd birthday in the middle of our adventure! 🥳🎂

Then the rain came… and it didn’t stop ALL day. 🌧️ With the heavy downpour and barely any visibility, there wasn’t much we could explore, so we took the chance to cover more miles heading north instead.

By the end of the day, we found ourselves camping deep in the middle of the woods — a quiet spot where we might even be lucky enough to spot some koalas. 🐨🌿
