We’re celebrating the incredible Dolly Parton - an icon whose impact reached far beyond music.

A passionate advocate for children, reading and literacy throughout her life, Dolly leaves behind an incredible legacy through her Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, which has gifted 332 million books to children around the world, including more than 2 million books to children in Australia 🇦🇺

We’re showcasing a selection of Dolly’s books as we remember her incredible music and celebrate her wonderful contribution to inspiring a lifelong love of reading. 💗

This month, we caught up with Toni, one of our Children’s and Families Librarians, to hear about some of her favourite things about books and libraries.

1. What is the book that inspired you as a child?
I absolutely loved reading 'The Baby-Sitters Cub' books by Ann. M Martin. I love that they have now been adapted into graphic novels and are being enjoyed by the next generation.

2. What do you love about libraries?
I love the interactions with our library members and visitors and listening to their stories. Libraries are a great space for sharing. Working closely with our community is very rewarding.

3. What are you reading/ watching/ listening at the moment?
I have just finished reading 'The Good Sister' by Sally Hepworth. It was a great read and I love that the main character worked in a library!

Come and say hello to Toni next time you're in the library. She loves a pop of colour, so you can't miss her! 🙂
